The framerate in Dead Cells starts dropping in like the first two minutes when a bunch of bats fly away. Everyone is just telling me I'm overreacting, so I don't know what to do with these feelings.

TWEWY sounds like a pretty safe bet for me -- a lot of my favorite things this generation have been Japanese, often RPGish, often from franchises I'd never taken an interest in before, not having the right consoles or just not being aware of -- Persona 5, Nier: Automata, Yakuza 0, enjoying Octopath a lot now. Don't know much about it but that trailer looked hella stylish which has been going a long way for me. Thinking along those lines a while ago I did wonder if Atelier would be up my alley ("Weird long-running Japanese series I've never heard of? I've liked a bunch of those so far. RPG pivoted to be about the crafting? That sounds like a cool twist on familiar mechanics.") Watched about 30 seconds of video and nope'd out of that one.

As someone who is easily turned off of rogue lites and not a fan of souls like games, Dead Cells kicks absolute rear end. When you get some nice weapon synergy, it's awesome. On my third round I got the freeze blast weapon and a sword that did +175% damage to frozen enemies, it was nuts and super satisfying. It's a great "just one more go" type of game.

A lot of people here were wondering how someone could be this stupid, but this is not rare. I teach composition to college freshmen. They're required to submit all major essays to a plagiarism detection service. I still see students buy essays then submit them directly to these plagiarism detection services. Somehow, the notion of being caught just never enters their minds. I've also seen examples where the student takes something online and then changes every other word. It sounds about as awkward as you think it would, and the detection services pick it up anyway. Though I will say that my favorite is when they pay someone to write their essays, who then plagiarizes the work from other people. I imagine the equivalent also comes up in game reviews.

When I was a junior or senior in college, so six, seven years ago, I had a science class of all things where the professor required us all to run our reports through a plagiarism detector, and if it came back more than 10% positive on stuff that wasn't attributed, we failed (or something like that, it's been a while). We were actually able to run it through on our end multiple times and see and correct our reports before turning them in - I remember getting pissed off that I was getting false positives on some common phrases and having to reword stuff and it ending up sounding really stilted - but the point is we could see our scores before we submitted the reports. And people still got failed for plagiarizing.
