Honestly tho, what was Opie thinking with that tweet? The only thing I can think of is an interview O&A did that I saw on YouTube not long ago, where Anthony mentioned that during the whole Boston incident, Ant thought that O&A was over, and Opie told him that no publicity is bad publicity and (correctly) predicted that they were going to blow up after their firing. Maybe Opie thinks that making stupid tweets like that will, at the very least, will get his brand talked about and possibly gain listeners who are only listening because they want to laugh at the lovely podcast Ant spent 45 minutes trashing on the air. Oh yeah, last night Vic Henley supposedly did his act for free at an amphitheater in my hometown, and I was going to go (pretty much because my favorite food truck was going to be there), but it rained all day so I assumed it was cancelled. Dr. Steve (who also lives in my hometown and has brought Bob Kelly and Jim Florentine to perform in different but somewhat less terrible venues that are at least indoors) sponsored the event. I guess I should check Twitter to see if the show actually went down.

At least on O&A, he appeared to the listeners as having a legitimate role. He’s not funny, a terrible interviewer, and his current production stinks. He’s in no position to criticize any other show, regardless of platform, subject, or host. I tried really hard to be an Opie fan (especially during the days after Obama was elected and Ants brain broke), but somehow he’s managed to become the most intolerable of all of them (including Sam’s voice). I'm not going to defend Ant or his content but that was a pretty amusing segment because when he's not focusing on race stereotypes (ie: getting mad at blacks) and letting out more personal, experience-based hatred, I find him funny.

Much as I hate pretty much all of Anthony's opinions, the fucker can be ludicrously funny. I can't say he was grandly funny during that segment, but on a scale he is so far above Opie as a speaker and comedian that it simply needs to be acknowledged. Really the best possible thing would be Patrice risen from the dead, calling them both sissies and proceeding to give them both poo poo for a good 3 hours. I want racist Gallagher comedy, just laid out against those two with brutal Patrice truth. Lacking Necro-Patrice I'll listen to Anthony rant about Opie and garner some enjoyment before I'll ever listen to more Opie. To be fair I won't be paying for either but drat I prefer a funny piece of poo poo over an unfunny one.

I feel lucky compared to most of you; I stopped listening to O&A in 2011, so I feel like I got out just in time to not have to endure the worst of it. I'd had enough of racist Anthony so I started fast forwarding his rants, and what I was left with to listen to from Opie and Jim wasn't funny at all so I bailed. I've enjoyed watching everyone else turn their backs on the show over the years, so they still gave me that entertainment at least. As I've gotten older Bennington is more my speed. I guess it's unfortunate how everything turned out, but everything just took its logical course. O&A are each nuttier by the day, and Jim is an endlessly pontificating boob. I think what most of us will miss about the show is how they used to constantly bring in funny top-notch comedians into an environment with a care-free vibe. Even Ronnie B, the man himself, was never able to figure out how to create that vibe and attract the quality of talent on such a consistent basis that O&A did. That's definitely the biggest loss for me, because I don't foresee any podcast or radio po-gram recreating that magic any time soon.

Norm is fairly conservative but seems more the religious type conservative as opposed to some kinda full frothing at the mouth loon trying to shove beliefs in your face. He's also comfortably funnier than like 98%+ of comics out there and is never super super offensive so I'd put him a bit off that list. Also he's possibly one of the greatest guests on any program I've ever seen or heard, his bit on the Adam Carolla radio show talking about Kenny Rogers songs is pure gold.
