Ultradavid is a cool person and he's a decent follow for overall FGC news. edit: also I've always assumed that the DOA community's big female presence was due to it being one of the few fighters with women protagonists at the time, and also that the skeevy bullshit was added incrementally. Mai is a pretty good litmus test for this because she was confident, goofy, but a cool adult ninja woman, so a lot of women liked her even though she was literally modeled off of multiple porn stars, because there was this kind of playful, fun sexuality to her. now in snk tag heroines or whatever its called shes embarrassed over being in an outfit thats less skimpy than usual for her and its turning a lot of people off. the amount of sexualization is about the same but the context is very different. in the west its mostly just people checking against a titty quotient more than anything.
