And why not have prepared marketing material of some kind? You don't necessarily have to spell it out, but explaining in some way that there's a new thing in the world, that Ditto seems to be mimicking it and giving people some reason why it's not catchable, dexable, or in any way interactive otherwise. Nothing about the way this has gone down makes any sense for a planned event. Bonus, around the same time nutboi became a thing, all the raid timers got re-hosed back to 1 hour / 45 minute raids, after they had undone it once on the 20th and then fixed it on the 21st. If this was somehow an intentional hype release, they dropped the ball super hard on it.

I thought about Nutto for about 30 seconds yesterday and then forgot all about it. I let my Gotcha catch everything in sight with the event XP bonus plus XP Eggs and I had a great time.

I pre-gamed with 300 regular balls and a bunch of Lucky Eggs. By the time the event was over I had over 400 Chikorita candy and 7 shinies. The Go-tcha had thrown over 250 balls.

It turns into Ditto because that's the only way to show a Pokemon without having it be catchable. If it was catchable it'd reveal all kinds of details about its stats and typing and moves which I guess they don't want to do yet. Them not explaining anything generates hype and gets people talking about it, like with those ARGs that other game companies do. Clearly it worked, because we're talking about it and people came up with all kinds of crazy theories ITT.

It's not officially released yet. And lol if it was a mistake they'd either have pulled it or said something by now.

Whoops I've fully modeled and animated a Pokemon by accident. Oops I've somehow made it so that it spawns in the game! Oh no I've coded it to transform into a ditto when its captured! What a silly mistake. Ruh roh it's appearing everywhere on the map! Better tweet about it so nobody knows it's a glitch!

Sounds like a very good time to be playing the game.

I think that friend xp is going to carry me to lv40. My daughter got like 700k today from two BFFs and some Ultras. I think that in the next month I have 20+ best friends coming up so that's like 4 million xp right there and I'm only 100k from 39.

I just with there was an easy way to know exactly when you’re going to hit the ultra or best friend mark so that you donmt waste a lucky egg.
