Valk is really really fun to play as defender. I just hold a room adjacent to objective, and put cams all over the place, then rush out and shotgun people with my SPAS. Just had a really interesting bug though, all sound broke right when someone died whilst they were shooting. So all I could hear was nonstop machinegun fire, no footsteps, no nothing else. Then the second round, all I could hear were drone noises, no footsteps, no gunshots. It was garbage. Still managed to get kills though by just playing aggressively as gently caress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29wMney1WhE you can hear the pain in my voice. sound would bug within 10 seconds of round start, and then I'd just hear nonstop gunfire. No footsteps, no gunshots. just wanted to see if I could get lucky rushing objective and I almost did (I definitely would have if I could have heard where he was with his footsteps). I recently replayed it - it takes a little work but whoever recorded this did so on a potato pc. The actual gameplay is still top notch and nothing has quite compared since for how dynamic the AI can be in most areas.

Pretty sure I've been shot a couple of times while she still had her hands at her hips drawing the actual gun. Also re: shotguns, Killing Floor has some of the best shotguns in the entire genre. Those things can easily reach out to 20+ meters and still put regular enemies down in one or two shots at that range. The 870 in Black Ops 2 is and was a god for this reason. Incredibly range, amazing kill power. 870 on nuke town or hijacked is almost a guaranteed 3:1 K:D game. Silencer also reduces damage, but I don't remember if there's a limb modifier on top of that silencers reduce standard damage by a slight bit of course. the exact values can be found in game but its usually only a few points shooting someone in the foot is probably the least effective place to hit them though it wouldn't surprise me if it is the same as shooting them in the hand. fwiw ppl do this through walls to reset teammates from low health to 50 other than that, distance is the next big factor because damage falls off a lot faster for pistols/shotguns than rifles. i've seen instances where i shot someone 4 times in the arm without even downing them but i was peeking them from the Zanzibar door all the way down to the main entrance of theme park

Yeah but we've all had the experience of a defender trying to kill a drone with a shotgun and blowing huge holes in their own floor/ceiling. I mean I basically agree with you tho, Defenders have more control over where firefights happen than attackers. Edit: Clash getting melee'd should absolutely open her up more and basically be death to all but the most mlg players. There is no reason for it to expose only her calves and feet. BTW the worst feeling in the world is when you watch a bunch of "Best Evil Eye Locations" vids, pick Maestro, setup some real nice Evil Eye sightlines and locations, then lose the round when the attacking team rushes the objective in a big dumb clump and murders all your teammates and then you through superior gunskills.

Shotguns with realistic ranges are cool if the game has super fast TTKs all around and long ranges but they're less cool in games like Rainbow Six where the first bullet doesn't kill you and the TTK at range can be comically long. They're impossible to balance in a game like siege.

The range of her electrical skill, with no impact on her ability to walk backwards, and her gun switch time is all pretty stupid in terms of design. I really hope they both tweak the range of electric damage and her switch time.

Trying to pick up Maverick and I am curious about the 'hitbox' or collision of melted open reinforcement. Given the wierdass texture and model being applied to things, is there a reliable way to tell where bullets will pass through and be snagged, short of making holes and shooting the edges that is. So far I've usually managed well enough to fire through the 'open' parts but it feels like the 'frayed' looking edges don't collide bullets reliably, especially shooting through (getting shot through) the glory holes from any distance.
