In truth, without my cpap, I am unable to dream because I never achieve REM state. Yeah, I'm fat. But I don't need it just because I am fat. I need it because I have always been fat. My body is now permanently broken because of it. If I dropped 100 lbs, I would still need it. These are the consequences. Shame me for it, I don't give two fucks. It has helped me noticeably and will likely add years to my life. And it's quiet as poo poo, I don't know what you people are talking about.

CPAP machines are prescribed because untreated sleep apnea tends to lead to cardiac issues. I have idiopathic sleep apnea (it just runs through my mom's side of the family - we're not fat) and my CPAP machine pretty much eliminates it. The machine actually makes a pleasant noise, and prevents me from snoring, gasping, or appearing to be dead, which my partner appreciates. I'm so used to it that sleeping without it is weird.

Rad-daddio posted:I'm more worried about my body trying to die while I'm asleep, and my dumbass trying to keep it alive. Lmao Seriously though sleep apnea doesn't really carry a risk of actually directly dying in your sleep from not breathing. It increases your risk of dying from other issue like the cardiac issues that can develop, or falling asleep driving, etc. I'm actually clarifying because I used to think my mom was gonna die in her sleep because she didn't wear the cpap. I should really get a sleep study cause of my mom having it and people literally telling me they thought I stopped breathing in my sleep, this was like 8 years ago. I even got a referral for it finally and I keep forgetting to make an appointment. Then I think about at times like this, when its 5 am, and they are not open to make an appointment. I'm putting a loving reminder on my phone and it's happening today god dammit!!! Cuuuurse

Certain old men prefer to rise at about that time, taking a cold bath and a long walk with an empty stomach, and otherwise mortifying the flesh. They then point with pride to these practices as the cause of their sturdy health and ripe years; the truth being that they are hearty and old, not because of their habits, but in spite of them. The reason we find only robust persons doing this thing is that it has killed all the others who have tried it.
