Don't bother powering up pokemon until you hit level 20 at least. Wild pokemon can be up to level 30 (level 35 when weather boosted). It doesn't matter if power up your pokemon before or after evolving, you end up with exactly the same pokemon either way. The stardust and candy cost is the same whether you power up the unevolved or the evolved form.

One (boring) way of getting lots of xp (like 70k) is to use a lucky egg and then mass evolve whatever pokemon you happen to have, since you get 500 xp per evolution (1000 with the lucky egg). Then just sit there and evolve pokemon for 30 minutes until the egg runs out. If you're really good at tapping, you can evolve almost 3 pokemon per minute, so you have to have like 70-80 pokemon ready to evolve and enough candy for them all.

It depends what you're wanting to get out of the game. Technically speaking at your level you shouldn't power up or evolve anything, as your level still limits the strength of pokemon you can catch. For example a 400cp eevee might be the highest you can catch right now, but if you wait until you're level 25 you could have caught a few at 700+cp. The lower eevee would take a shitload more candy and stardust to turn into a useful fighter.

If you're interested in levelling quickly, absolutely the best thing you can do is get involved in raids as soon as possible. You'll suck for your first few because you've got nothing competitive, but very quickly you'll build up a decent team (The 5 star raid is mewtwo right now, which is good against everything). As long as the group you do your first few raids with is big enough then it won't be a problem that you can't contribute. I did exactly the same with my second account I opened a few months ago, piggybacking on a few raids a week, and within a month I was level 25 or so and had a useful squad.

Of course if you're not too fussed about raiding then keep as you are, and evolve what you want as and when you get the candy.

It sure does. Maybe if you followed its recommendations and used a team of six Aggrons every time you might need five people to take down a Magikarp.

If, like, all six of your Aggrons were level one with 0% IVs, maybe, and none of them had Thunder.

Oh yea, absolutely do not be afraid to go on raids.

The only time your low levels are going to be a problem are if you're on a level 4 raid and there is only one other player or a level 5 raid and there are fewer than 5 other people there. The raids do not scale to the number of players, and levels 1-3 are soloable. Level 4 requires 2 very high level players or 3 30+ level players. Some level 5 raids are doable with 4 or 3 players, but most are easy with at least 6 players.

So if you stumble on a raid that already has enough players, you can join in with a team of 6 pidgeys and you will get the full xp from the raid, you will not steal xp from the other players and you will not make the raid harder for them and if you manage to catch the raid boss, you will get a pokemon that is better than the pidgeys you used on this raid.

Yeah, bosses will probably rotste at the end of the event. There's always the possibility of a new one that is very difficult or impossible to solo.

If you guys haven't already done this, see if there's a local Discord server. Helps with raids, a lot of channels have general chats for questions like that. Some of them are going to have faster reaponse times than SA.

In my experience these faster response times can come from people answering who don't actually know what they're talking about, so take pubbie Discord advice with a grain of salt. But sometimes you find real gems, and the raid access is super nice. I don't have time anymore but I did a lot of that when they first came out. This is probably only helpful if you played during Gen 1 and have a ton of eggheads or egg candy, but my Machamp Squad is Alakazam, Espeon, Exeggutor, Exeggutor, Exeggutor, Lugia. I've never seen the Lugia come out in any weather against any moveset, and the Alakazam dies so fast I think he could easily be another Egghead. This is the best time to build up your Machamp soloing team, get a couple of Mewtwos with Psychic and just start stuffing candy down their gullets.

Confusion/psychic Mewtwo will gently caress up a Machamp pretty bad although I've found that Gardevoir has the best dps/tdo balance so if you lead off with one or two of those you'll be able to mostly fill your bench with Espeons or Alakazams (especially if you have at least one Mewtwo to back it up). Make sure everything is above 2500cp (Mewtwo should be over 3k) and don't dodge* and you should be fine.

Movesets are important, make sure that Gardevoir has Dazzling Gleam on it and Espeon/Alakazam are running Future Sight. Without future sight you might as well not even use Espeon or Alakazam.

*dodge like one charge shot if you're using an Alakazam

Maybe he doesn't trade them? If he finds a raid for x% IV, he could log on a second device with his customer's account, have it join the raid, then catch it there. Could even do multiple devices at once if you find a good one.

Which I suppose could put that other account in danger of being banned, depending on when/where they last logged on.

With that many raids, is he spoofing the location, or just counting running the same raid over and over to catch it for multiple people?

IVs are rolled differently for each participant at a raid, IVs are rerolled when trading. You'd have to do all the raiding on the target account for it to work but it doesn't look like he's doing that so I don't know what the gently caress his method is supposed to be.

Extremely unlucky I'd go with. I burned literally all my charge TMs on Moltres day giving TTars Stone Edge because I had zero with Smackdown, and now I'm back up to 20, even after getting 9 Mewtwos to Shadow Ball before it became legacy. I raid once, maybe twice per day.

Like everyone else said, hold off on evolving until at least level 20, preferably 25. You'll catch higher level stuff in the wild than the stuff in your storage before that.

I would also caution you to not put too much importance on IVs. That's what I did when I first learned about it, and it caused me to make bad choices. IVs are really not that important except for edge cases where you're trying to hit breakpoints to beat raids with less players than normal. In everyday play you won't notice much difference.

For instance, I did stupid things like evolving a level 15 99iv or a level 20 98iv instead of a level 30 94iv because the low level is 'better'. In reality there's almost no difference in performance but the low level Pokemon cost hundreds of candy and tens of thousands of Stardust to level up.

Your best bet unless you're a big city tryhard player is to level up and use Pokemon that are around your level (25+) and have the best IV you can find without driving yourself crazy. I typically do 80%+ for rare species and 90%+ for more common things.
