Im finally off probation! So on the subject of some dead topics I don't think Daddy Solomon necessarily staged the incident where he came upon the men killing themselves to pull a stone block. They weren't described as slaves, but as gladiators or something. I got the impression that these are actually volunteers who are engaging in an extreme form of training so that they can achieve a level of physical perfection on par with Davey Sol. After all, it wasn't too long ago that people literally trained themselves to the brink of death. I think that Daddy Solly is actually too perfect and inspires his people to model themselves after him to their own detriment. And Big Daddy either doesn't realoze this or doesn't care, so he's blind to the fanatacism his people have that lead themselves to their own deaths. And, of course, the laws undoubtedly encourage this kind of thing. Leading to a society that is almost mandated to work themselves literally to death. Solomon isn't giving these men a reprieve. He's giving them a goal. They're all going to want to reach the level where they too can effortlessly lift multi-ton blocks of granite with one hand. And they're all going to kill themselves doing it. Solomon isn't just building an empire that can't function without him, he's building an empire thats burning itself from the inside out trying to please him.
