Conor's going to fight nate again or crush a can to get some steam back then they're going to get some gold around his waist by opening a 165 division and have him fight gsp to see who'll become the first triple champ. Or they can strip khabib and ban wrestling

yeah but if he gets completely dominated again (there wasn't even really a bit of back and forth) he will start to lose his drawing power. You could see Conor - Diaz for a potential 165 championship with GSP a year after that? Then a Khabib rematch if Khabib is still 155 champ. But I don't know, he needs to take his MMA career seriously again if he wants to hang with the top of the division.

From a sporting standpoint there's really no reason to give Conor a rematch, it was a comprehensive victory for Khabib. It's not like the Diaz fight where you've got stuff like it was short notice, at welterweight, Conor was winning until he got tired, etc. "He did a flying WWE stomp to one of my friends after dominating and submitting me" isn't really the same. But then you're in the situation where it costs so much money to get Conor to fight that every time he does it has to be a blockbuster title fight PPV main event to make it worth the investment. So you can't go and do Conor vs. Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night: Gdansk or something.

Conor has too much money to take MMA seriously at this point. I think he bought into his own hype train full steam and now that steam is starting to run out. He should just take his $100mm and go home. He's 30 years old has taken minimal damage, has a pretty solid legacy that he can only ruin if he continues in the sport, and he has a new baby.

UFC November: My Brawls Was Hot

I think Conor's going to get a real challenge next, it doesn't seem to be the UFC's thing to feed cans to established fighters. Like, having Ronda fight Nunes her first fight back after the Holm fight was an awful decision when they could have given her a gimme fight or two for easy paydays. Also, I used to think I was so clever for understanding the aspect of "playing the heel" in fight sports and that I was so smart for getting Chael Sonnen's gimmick. So it's weird that I am so satisfied seeing Kabib just say "you insulted me, so I stomped you and then attacked your poo poo head buddy." Its so simple and beautiful and elegant.

Conor absolutely does not deserve a rematch based off a pure sporting standpoint, but this is not a sport and the second fight will draw larger than the first based off of the post fight antics and all WME cares about is $$

Khabib should fight Ferguson, Connor should fight Diaz and than the loser of Khabib Ferguson and than title shot. Including the fight that just happened that's 4 fights off his 5(6?) Fight contract leaving room for title defense if he beats khabib (lol)

Conor needs to spark someone that the UFC can market to the casuals as a big threat and he will immediately go back up to being some god-tier fighter.

It's just kind of incredible to think about. Conor paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and flew in the top people to train against that specifically. He was betting his reputation that he could stop that and he was just completely unable to do it.

Let’s be honest here, no one was hurt in the main event; it was an endurance challenge where two guys frotage’d their way into a paycheck.

Let's say he had hurt Khabib in the 2nd and actually rocked him in the 3rd -- then people would have doubled down on saying that Conor had a puncher's chance. I guess I could even be fine with a rematch if Khabib had gotten significantly hurt at some point. But instead of dusting himself off and getting a KO like against Chad, Conor was just too beat. I don't think it's surprising that he couldn't close up the gap in grappling over one training camp, nor should it be weird that he hired people to even attempt that.

if you're conor, do you take the rematch? would you be confident enough that you could beat him a second time around? would it be worth it to you for the payout, the potential second beating, and having to deal with khabib's whole eagle mma following?

It's just wild to me that there is an insane mountain man who can spike everyone in the world on their head like a football. No amount of training or touch of God in your gloves or former championships or mental warfare or flagrantly breaking the rules several times a round were enough to make any part of it look close. We've seen Conor lose but we have never seen him look ordinary.

That was the kind of loss that sends Conor back to boxing, holy poo poo. And Khabib's striking is weird but his timing is really, really good. His jab is really weird but he catches people when they're stepping or turning and that overhand is wild

I think he's saying they won the scuffle after the match is all. Which if you're McGregor and you want to distract people from you getting comprehensively beat, that's probably the only play to make. threeagainstfour fucked around with this message at 19:12 on Oct 8, 2018 |

Honestly a Conor Aldo rematch would be dope, that fight deserves to be longer than 8 seconds. Dunno if Conor thinks it's a money fight, but it makes sense given where both of them are at right now. Has Aldo ever talked about if he's sticking out his career at featherweight? I feel like people have been saying he's gonna move up to lightweight for like the last 7 years but here we are.
