I like system mastery and their spinoffs. I used to like I Don’t Even Own A Television but I’m increasingly feeling like their content warnings have passed a point where it’s no longer about showing due diligence to their audience and more about showing what great and thoughtful guys they are? It’s a podcast about laughing at bad books: that they tend to be terrible and thoughtless and offensive is sort of assumed? Them beating their breasts and rending their cloaks about how awful it all is seems a little bit, I dunno, staged?

apple bought a piece of dialog semiconductor and took on a bunch of its employees. dialog makes power management chips and other mixed analog-digital parts. looks like Apple decided they want to do more with these.

cinci zoo sniper posted:he is basically expecting apple to buy his app because he finds his app to be superior to the stock podcasts his app is better but it’s never going to get bought out because 1) no one cares since eddy cue owns podcasts, and 2) you don’t get acquired by putting out statements that start marketing fires for Apple, which Marco has done several times.

it is loving weird that rj45 didn't get squeezed a lot flatter at some point, it is one of those where the physical dimensions are obviously unnecessarily large and a forward-compatible redesign (with a slightly wider but much flatter section with the same wiring was instead used) would have been trivial the x1c does ok on ports in a lot of ways, but it has a proprietary physical ethernet port, which is incredbily pointless, since the converter is the same size as a usb ethernet dongle

Anyone remember those old laptops with rj11 jacks where it was an open plastic rectangle that popped out the side of the laptop and you sorta snapped in to this flimsy plastic square? those were cool and I'm sure absolutely terrible

good, if wifi isn't fast enough for whatever device you are using and a dongle is unacceptable, then the device can stand to be an inch thick. one thing we don't need is even more connectors
