I think it's fair to describe the art on these two issues as "less than confident." Fortunately, Davis comes roaring back in #61 with like three full-page panels that are purely an excuse to show Phoenix fighting Galactus.

I love the repeated "meanwhiles". Like, Davis is completely aware that this isn't particularly advancing the plot. (I'm not sure if I posted the panels in the correct order; it's not like it matters.) He just really wants to draw Phoenix fighting Galactus; and who can blame him?

Please tell me that these were inserted into completely random, unrelated comics. Like just a regular panel of Hawkeye sitting at home arranging his arrows and then MEANWHILE...

I would rank that whole storyline, in terms of pure cosmic grandeur, above the Dark Phoenix saga.

It's not half bad.

It's not half good, either. But it's a pretty entertaining exploitation flick.

In UK English, "tramp" is a negative term for a woman who has sex with a lot of different people.

Long Live The King!

His style works much better with teen characters, going all the way back to Impulse. I personally like the way it works with Spider-Man as well but I can understand why his style is polarizing.

Oh hey someone else who liked Impulse! That was like the only comic I really followed for a while, until Ramos and Waid left - the setting and characters they were building were really compelling and unique, and Ramos' artwork suited Impulse PERFECTLY. It was pretty frustrating when it came to nothing and ended almost the moment they left.

I tried to follow Impulse/Kid Flash after that but nobody else knew how to write him and it was just total garbage.

Depends if it is during the times in the series that regular Riker is clean shaven or regular Riker is bearded, of course.

Yeah I think of it more as a Jet Li The One scenario than a simple mirror universe setup. The beard crosses universes looking to attach itslef to the worthy and then makes them fight until there's only one left.
