Going to sit down and work on this when I get done with some poo poo but for anyone who wants to follow https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UjDLB671BvO3k1tsgCEjij77jzwQ5Iy-8k-LgzcHKK8/edit?usp=sharing This is my primary Nano thing. The other one I'm only going to count if/when I, probably, fall short on this one, because I had already started it last month and am at 21K for it.

Here's my nano profile: https://nanowrimo.org/participants/sarah-dimento I posted it in the discord, but the links get scrolled to oblivion in nano chat. I've done a little over 1k this morning so far. Since I woke up at 5 am and couldn't stop thinking about my novel I said screw sleep and got up to write.

Just broke a thousand words and I'm happy with my novel so far. It's shaping up to give me lots of cool places to go with it! Here's my profile - the description of the novel in there isn't 100% accurate anymore, but it's still a goal, so to speak. https://nanowrimo.org/participants/zekkass/novels/metal-hounds

Already at 2k. It's a slow trickle but the story is finally starting to get my interest and with any luck it'll keep it.

I'm at 2k as well, but stopping for the day because I can feel my brain burning. Fortunately I'm really interested in seeing where my story goes.

Trying this for the first time. I'm a heavy planner so I pretty much know exactly what I want to write, but that's really biting me in the rear end since I get discourage almost instantly when the words on the page don't match what is in my head. Here is my entry: https://nanowrimo.org/participants/taintedbalance/novels/deep-fire 2796 words today, and I think I'm about tapped out for now. I've got a pretty good outline of where I want the novel to go, and that's already been hosed to hell by the words that appeared when I started writing, but at least in a good way. Chapter 1 ended much differently than I expected, but I like how it ended up ending. I'll figure out how to bring the plot elements online that I meant to in Chapter 1 in another chapter or two. Yay for the first day being strong!

I ended yesterday with a little over 1800. Not a huge first day, but it's above target and I'm feeling good about the story pacing so I'm happy with it. I'm hoping to garner a bigger buffer this weekend.StrixNebulosa posted:Someone make me write today. force yourself to write at least one sentence and then you can take a break. a lot of the times I do that because it's a trivial challenge but 99% of the time the one sentence is all I need to kickstart myself into writing more.

I'm currently doing the outline. i'm sort of cheating as i've barely did preptober but i'm trying my best to get this done. Done being a hard word to swallow as my inner critic coupled with writer's block is stopping me doing writing as of late.

Vakal posted:I know people say to just write and ignore how terrible what you put out is. I self-edit as I write. I fix grammar/typos/etc as I go, and that's how I've written for years. What "ignore the terrible" means for me is to ignore that I've screwed up the pacing, or this scene shouldn't fit here, or what have you - I'm not allowed to rewrite ANYTHING or change dialogue or whatever until it's done. It'll be as typo-free as I can make it, but that won't prevent it from being a lovely first draft that needs rewrites and cuts and so on. e: Also I try not to reread any of it, except for what I need to get back into the flow. If character B is out of character in Scene 8, I'm not allowed to do anything about it until the thing is done.

I'm about 400 words over a finish target of the 29th, but tonight the true test begins: work. (I'm on a 4 on, 4 off schedule alternating day shift and night shift). Must preserve momentum, but I can already feel the 12 hours of purgatory looming...

I have a confession; my word count has been kind of sad these past couple of days because I'm kind of a huge nerd and I've been distracted by Blizzcon of all things. But it's over tonight and there's an extra hour tomorrow thanks to Daylight Savings Time so I'm hoping to kick it into high gear and get back up to par before the weekend is over.
