The largest Norwegian crypto-mining company is complaining about having to shut down now, as politicians have moved to exempt crypto-mining companies from a data-centre subsidy for power usage. ( Norway currently has a subsidy where datacenters using large amounts of power, 500KW and up, only pay approx 0.48 øre per kilowatt. The øre is the local equivalent of a penny. ( Thus, 0.00056 usd / KwH. )) They now have to pay the normal fee of 16.58 øre, 0.019 usd/KwH. Or nearly 35x as much. (If companies pay the same kind of 'usage fee' that private customers have, this doubles to a 70x increase.) This is of course enough for the owner to screech about how unfair this is, and how the politicians are unfairly handling thing and shouldn't micromanage what datacenters do. And they of course whine that this is enough to kill off the company. (Which I hope is the case, as they've been the centre of a couple cases about noise pollution, making life actively worse for the people living nearby.) As is the case with all these loving companies, I always wonder how much of their profits they actually report, vs how much just vanishes into the ether. Or how the servers are running 'maintenance', but actually mining coins that goes straight into the owner's pockets.

Grain of salt, given the source, but: German teen loses driving license after 49 minutes He was celebrating getting his license and was caught doing 95kph in a 50kph zone, and the penalty includes retraining and a driving ban.

Placing a stock on it would make it a short-barreled rifle and thus require a $200 tax stamp, federal registration, fingerprinting, approval from local law enforcement, and a ton of red tape. So people want one specifically because they've been told they can't?

i did something similar to this. i had to load a motorcycle into the back of a lifted bro truck, the guy had just bought a motorcycle off of me but had no clue how to ride one so he had me put it into the back of the truck for him. he pulled out like a 3 foot long board to ride up into a truck with a foot of lift. it was basically a 45 degree slope. i got the front wheel into the bed of the truck when the back tire lost traction and when i tried to put my feet down to stabilize there was nothing there. i fall off the motorcycle and tuck and roll the gently caress out of the way of a falling motorcycle. the gas tank gets a huge dent but doesn't leak fuel and i break the brake caliper right off of the forks. dude still gives me full asking price for it cause he knows he would have done worse doing it himself
