I wish there was a bulk discount for the MST3K episodes, I'd love to replace the old rips but it would be so much money. Any other TV show you can get the whole run in a cheap box after some time...

If you want to spend $300 you can get 87 episodes digitally through VHX. Which is cheaper than buying them individually.

Speaking of, back in the day the original release of the Star Wars Holiday Special riff was only an mp3 but sometime between then and now they updated it to a VOD. And if you purchased the MP3 version they actually give you a $4 discount on the VOD version. You can also use the Life Day discount and get it even cheaper.

They also recently got a better quality transfer.

Well, I just upgraded my mp3 only purchase of that to a VOD version. With the coupon I got it for $4.50. Now I'll see Lumpy's disgusting family in better detail.

Want a movie that misunderstands or just plain doesn't want to engage with any single thing that it references and almost always goes for the most obvious nerd poo poo ever?

I liked the riff but the fact that Halliday's favorite restaurant was Chuck E Cheese's and the audience isn't supposed to feel pity,be disgusted, or want to call SVU is funnier than any riff could be

I made a list of RiffTrax Shorts & VoDs to marathon on Thanksgiving if you feel so inclined to do so.

https://www.pbandawesome.com/2018/11/rifftrax-thanksgiving-day-2018-playlist.html

Or you can always get the RiffTrax Yule Log!

quote:

Holiday fireplace videos. We all love them, they bring comfort and cheer to our living rooms and family gatherings. But have they ever made you laugh?

We’re proud to present a new kind of fireplace video, one filled with festive comedy and music to be enjoyed by all! And yes, don’t worry, there is still a fireplace. A nice one, too!

The RiffTrax Yule Log is over two hours long, packed with new Christmas riffs, original songs written and performed by the guys, classic carols, nose flutes, skits and excerpts from beloved RiffTrax hits of holidays past!

There’s truly nothing like it, and no better way to keep your loved ones happy and smiling as the egg nog kicks in.

Even the Ice Cream Bunny gives it his “HURR HURR HURR” seal of approval! Spend your holidays nice and cozy with Mike, Kevin, Bill, Bridget, and Mary Jo, it’s the RiffTrax Yule Log!

Like the ones I probably get right now are Trucker Wife, Talking Cat, and Phantom Creep along with any shorts I am missing. I imagine any Mary Jo & Brig movies are going to be funny since they always have a fun time together on the movies I bought in the past like the weird rear end Christmas movie they did.

This is

Kind of amazing and I love it but also it suffers so much without some of the segments

Like, Prince of Space is a near perfect episode because everything works from start to finish so removing that takes something away...but getting to have the riffing over better quality versions of the films is excellent

Striker Spiker (I'm an idiot) was a surprise, and if you don't have Ice Cream Man, you need to buy that also.

Spiker is...kind of amazing in how badly it fails at being the by-the-numbers olympic sports movie it's setting out to be. Like, the guy I thought was the lead drops out of the movie halfway through and then never comes back and no one really replaces him. This also leaves the movie with no plot.

Holy poo poo, Trucker's Woman is certainly something. Sexual assault in the first 15 minutes sets a pretty high bar that the movie only reaches again when our hero forces his way into her car but he's definitely a dick throughout. It's a very 70s movie and also a very good riff. Now I want pizza for some reason.

Ice Cream Man was more baffling than funny to me though the third act revs up the crazy both intentional and not.

turns out this was the director's one and only foray into non-pornographic films,
the only other notable film of his is Edward Penishands +2 sequels

Edward Penishands was actually banned in most canadian provinces.

I’m not joking. I worked at a video store in the early 90’s and it was on a head office-mailed Raid List of the porn we had to pull off the shelves that week.

Apparently, someone in Canada Customs decided that a guy having dildos for hands was close enough to fisting to put the movies on a ban list.

Truckers Woman is a hell of a movie. Like yes, the 70s were another era but there is no way the protagonists behavoir was acceptable even then.

The Yule Log is... odd. I liked it but Im not sure Id ever recommend it to someone else because it perfectly captures the odd feeling of being very engaged then not engaged then overhearing a bizzarre conversation that a large christmas gathering provides.

Watching the Bridget/Mary Jo riff Rescue Me and man, Stephen Dorff is such a creep in it. He's a photography nerd who is constantly stalking a cheerleader.

Edit: A really weird thing is that their version is censored so whenever anyone in the movie swears it is bleeped out. Usually the riffs themselves are censored but not the movies themselves.
