The dude was a hulking slob so their nickname to make fun of him was gorilla whale and it morphed to Godzilla and became the monster we all know and love.

This is hilarious and I just had to know for sure. Popped "gorilla whale" into Google translate and sure enough, it's "Gorirakujira", which undoubtedly would be shortened to "Gojira". What an awesome little fact.

It's funny because the character in that comic would not know who Steve Jobs is, because the character Rorschach is a recluse and wouldn't know a popular figure. OR it's because Steve Jobs doesn't exist in their universe, but since Doctor Manhattan is a god and can see everything in the past, future, and present and possibly other dimensions, he would know who Steve Jobs is. He's trying to pull a joke on Rorschach that he would be unable to even comprehend. It's also funny because he doesn't even care that the punchline is ruined due to the incomplete setup, proving that Doctor Manhattan has lost all his humanity.
