twoday posted:When the results of the referendum were announced I remember reading, watching, and listening to various BBC articles and nearly every one featured the same very old man being interviewed by a reporter about how he voted. He said something like, "I did not fight in the war and watch my friends die around me only to be ruled by Germany; today we took our country back" as he literally cried tears of joy. I often wonder if he is still alive. I wonder if he’s proud of being ruled by Ireland

hobbesmaster posted:if they prorogue right now wouldn't the next parliament not start until after a no deal brexit? Nah, it is usually just a delay of a few days, but this would run into the planned Xmas break so they'd not be back until 7th January. I mean she might yet win. There's maybe 100 MPs who will definitely vote against May, but they need 159 to definitely force her out. Although Thatcher quit after getting only 54% of the vote in a 1990 leadership contest as she was convinced her position was untenable. But Thatcher had been in power 11 years & May has been in for 2 & a half and seems to have a messiah complex. forkboy84 has issued a correction as of 09:15 on Dec 12, 2018 |

We've just arrived at the point where everyone in charge has realised that it's completely impossible when you look at the details, so of course they're currently fighting over who will get the blame. e: there's as many insane right wingers screaming "just get it done, I don't care about the details" as you'd expect, too.
