In Descent you can run out of ammo and energy with no way out of a corridor with infinite spawning enemies who don't drop anything. That's some backward rear end game design.

Path of Exile actually does have a desert now, but its at the point in the main story where you're trivialising all of the combat so it doesn't feel like a drag at all.

Yeah but what if I'm trying to find a guide to getting Silent Assassin ranking in Hitman 2? What then??

I don't mind the ironman restriction, but it'd be nice if Stellaris, and other paradox games in general, would let you get achievements with mods active. It's not a big deal, and there's probably a workaround for it, but it's annoying to have to choose between the ability to get achievements and making the game more fun.

It’s funny you bring up Path of Exile because it’s the only D2-style ARPG that doesn’t have a lovely garbage desert in its second act.

Torchlight 2 has it, Sacred has it, Titan Quest has it, Grim Dawn has it.

That's because it's in the 9th act :v:

I like Spider-Man a whole lot but I strongly feel like if you do the Batman combat with a reaction button press to dodge, you need to make sure there's no way to get stuck on scenery and objects when dodging, which has happened to me too many times already.

Lost Legacy's jungle areas were well-done because Naughty Dog lovingly rendered the rapidly accumulating sweat and grime on the main characters. You can't spend three hours in the equatorial sun and come out of it looking too pretty.

Just want to confirm, when you say 'caught on scenery' you mean, like, he's dodging and because there's a chair or something in the way he's not dodging quite as far as he should, right? Cause if he's dodging into walls, and stopping while perched on the wall, you can press square to have him launch off in a pretty good area attack.

I think you meant to post in the "what should I know" thread, but you should make a beeline to unlocking your rc rover car and then the flying drone - otherwise a lot of collectibles in the world are unobtainable

One thing that bugs me about WatchDogs2 though, is that the melee attack is lethal. Makes absolutely no impact on either the story or gameplay but, it suddenly turned from an adventure where a bunch of kids are doing antics to a murder adventure where one guy is cracking skulls lethally left right and center.

Oh also the 'antics' of the characters, especially the clubhouse filled with 'wacky' art memes really doesn't gel well with the sorts of things they're doing and what they're up against. Feels really out of place to be all 'lol we're hacking multi-billion dollar companies to stop destructive monopolies here's a meme, kids!' And then you film your character killing some guys and send it out for 'likes' or whatever they do.

There was an interview with a developer where they said that the melee is “meant” to be nonlethal, the bad guys are just treated as dead for the risk/reward aspect of permanently taking down an enemy if you get in close, if that changes anything

In the first few hours, things kind of fit because you're doing annoying 4chan hacktivist things and you mostly have access to non-lethal tools, and by the end, for spoilery reasons, you're a bit more justified if you decide to go on multiple killing sprees, but the HUGE middle chunk feels REALLY awkward if, like me, you decided to rock a grenade launcher and an AR15 while you try to get someone fired from Google for being mean to your friend (I may be downplaying how evil the Google guy was, I don't remember much from the plot).

man what

I don't have EDF 5 yet, but the thing dragging down 4.1 is that for some reason, in local co-op, weapons and armor isn't shared.

It is in online! Picking up armor gives an armor point to everyone. Grabbing a weapon pickup gives it to everyone too.

But for some reason in local, it doesn't, so it's just for that one particular class.
My assumption is that it was an incredibly boneheaded decision to stop the minor possibility that one person might play in co-op mode, but solo, to level up two classes at once.

I was really enjoying Telefang Power, and it's not the game's fault at all, but the translation patch is incomplete, only being complete up to the end of Ion Island. It's a shame because I loved what I played but as of the bit with the scientists it's become incomprehensible, so I'm going to give it a few months then see what the latest patch version ends up being (the last one was only released 2 days ago so it is actively being worked on at least, it's not abandoned)
