Nope. International date line is at 180 degrees, out in the Pacific.

Tree Goat posted:shouldn’t the x axis start at 5:00 EST It probably should though prior to 10am EST it's a tiny fraction of peeps. Once Japan hits tho at 10EST it is over 2% whereas the graph makes it appear to be 0% for a long time after that when at 11am EST China flips which brinfs it to 25% and an hour later Indonesia hits bringing it to at least 40%. So ya I dunno what the gently caress they're doing there. MrUnderbridge posted:Nope. International date line is at 180 degrees, out in the Pacific. No, he's just bad at labeling things. The x-axis, despite what the label might make you think, does in fact start at 0500 EST (rather, where the first dot is is 0500 EST). Each tick is an hour, which is why you see the first noticeable upward shift five ticks in, at 1000 EST, then the huge jump for China one tick later at 1100 EST. I don't know why he put that 10:00 label where he did, but it seems to be the source of everyone's confusion.

every other x axis label has a gray vertical line indicating its position in the main chart, including the 1000 EST tick (but at the incorrect location given the linear axis). i think it’s just mislabeled (as 1000 GMT instead of EST, say)

E: or vice versa, very hard to point to which end is the rear end end. I thought they went from being first to be last for trading reasons.

A bunch of tiny island nations switched their time zone so they'd be the first to ring in the millennium. And probably for other reasons too that I don't know about. e: I might have made this up. This article seems to indicate the change came in 1995. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-13334229

If for some reason you only need to know what day of the week a given date falls on, that's not a bad way to present a calendar.
