Jamming out to James Taylor at work while trimming plants. My trim lead shifted departments and we're short a few hands today. I'm working on negotiating a raise to go to the remote site permanently, instead of two days here, three days there. Gonna put on some Gordon Lightfoot after break and croon along. The trimmers and vacs are loud enough to drown me out.

Ive been very unsatisfied so far, and I think a lot of it has to due with my precious clients being such a mess to work with. I missed this earlier, good luck my dude. One of the things I've battled with is that I felt behind given my age and the age of my peers. So I redlined my career (admittedly because my personal life completely disintegrated) to get where I am now. I can't say if it was worth it. Maybe.

The trick to not feeling that old at work is to be with a bunch of vets with 10+ of service. They all may be 10 years younger than me but their bodies are all piles of poo poo. I don’t think the 4 other guys have one fully functional knee between them.

My entire goal/ambition has always been to make enough money to live comfortably and have enough expendable income to be able to enjoy life to which I would consider to be what the "average american" spends on frivolous expenses for entertainment and whatnot. I make a pretty good wage as a nurse. But let me tell you, shilling out $1550 a month for rent and having to pay for two individuals student loans on a single income is a huge hamstring on the ol' pocket book. Top on a $250 car payment and the small expenses that come with a permanent dog and foster dog...The money that you take home every two weeks disappears very fast. I know it's kinda out of context but I really loving hate how much I spend on housing on top of the student loans. Just getting rid of the student loans would save us around $450 a month, and living where we do we are actually in the low percentage of rental costs for the area. I completely understand as well that $450 a month for student loans is nothing compared to some people, but a single income really makes a big difference when the overall income/output ratio is put into perspective. Oh well, this is my white person privileged rant. I'll go back to drinking my brand name soda and wiping my rear end with quality toilet paper while hoping that my tax refund is decent this year.

yo can we just take a second to acknowledge, again, just how amazing Fury Road was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr6wdTPGFmI I mean, gently caress. At 2:30, just don’t think we’ll see a scene like that in cinema for a while. I love showing Fury Road to people for the first time and watching them become reborn. Everything about it: absolutely perfect. Love the ideas around Max not even being an actual person, but more of a legend in this post apocalyptic world

Edit: ^^^^^^^^^^^ Best decision I ever made, tied with getting outnwin posted:Who do you guys use for car insurance? I’ve only ever had USAA but they’re kinda going down the shitter lately so I’m thinking of shopping around. How so? I haven't had any issues with them at all. I haven't had to file a claim in a while, though, so they might be flying under my suckage radar. Anyway, recommendations: I used Geico until around 2008, and never had anything to complain about. My brother and sister in law get a good rate with Esurance, and I guess the claims process has been pretty painless the three times they've ever had to use it. Other brother uses Mercury, because it was the only company that didn't try to gently caress him over for having a (non DUI) record. Girlfriend uses General, and seems to be the only person I've ever met that doesn't hate them outright, though that might have something to do with going through a local broker. If you don't do a lot of driving, a friend of mine pays pennies for his truck with Metromile. I don't think he's had to do anything with them yet except give them money, but it works in concept. Nice! I had that done back in Sept. Followed the doc's recommendation of ice and not doing much of anything for 3 days, and no PT for a week and have had no complications. The whole thing was pretty quick and easy. No more pain than a flu shot, and even that was just the anesthetic injections.

I’m gonna die like my great grandpa. In the sack, 85, balling my third teenage wife who married me for food and shelter in a blasted wasteland. That’s the family story at least. Somebody else said the real father was actually a ranch hand and Hefe had been shooting blanks for decades.

I like how George Miller realized that people idolized Max as a "hero tale" after the first movie was released, and then he studied hero myths when he built the subsequent stories, where Max always begins the story alone, and slowly returns and regains his humanity by helping people he encounters in his wandering, and then is cast adrift again to wander the wasteland.

I just quit my job because I can’t do this work. There’s too much and I cannot separate work/home. I’d get home at 6:30-7:00 most nights and immediately fall asleep from exhaustion.
