Like this isn't even a conversation about colonization so I don't know why you're trying to bring it up. Second, just because the Moriori weren't 100% exterminated doesn't mean it suddenly doesn't count as a genocide. The Maori killed over 10% of the entire population just during their conquering and systematically destroyed Moriori culture and ritual sites, with the ones they didn't kill being enslaved and forcibly assimilated into Maori culture. There's not a single Moriori of unmixed ancestry known to exist and only a few thousand people of Moriori descent are alive today. That is absolutely the definition of a genocide and and trying to say it's not is baffling.
