I wanted to get into this when I was living in Japan but I never got around to it and the text-heavy Japanese was a bit much more me. Nevertheless, here I am now. I've been rerolling my first summon for a while and I'm a little sick of it. The most recent one I've gotten has given me a 3* Ushiwakamaru and a 4* Carmilla, which tier lists tell me are good servants to start with. I'm a bit wary of tier lists though, so do you folk think that's a good enough start? I don't have any prior knowledge about this franchise apart from it being a porn once or something so I'm not attached to any of these characters. This Carmilla looks pretty metal though.

Carmilla was the second best starting choice after loving Hercules you should definitely stick with it. Don’t worry about anything 3*, you’ll get all of them multiple times for free.

The game is easy enough that you absolutely do not need to bother with rerolling if you don't want to. That said Carmilla is very good from a gameplay standpoint, so feel free to continue using that team if you want. If you want to keep going for maximum gameplay worthiness, Heracles is the best Servant out of the 1st roll's free 4*s.

Both of them are pretty good, and if you don't want to keep fishing for Herc and/or a multiple 4* roll you'll do just fine with that one, especially if you got some other solid 3*s in it too.

That said, Carmilla is a good one since there's a lot of lady enemies and she can make a decent amount of crit stars. Ushiwakamaru is excellent for single-target damage with her NP and will be good for murdering demons and other Caster enemies.

They sounds like keepers then! The other three star units are apparently pretty average (Darius III, Babbage) but if i'm going to be coming across them a lot, I won't give them too much weight. Thanks!

I've been rerolling my first summon for a while and I'm a little sick of it. Don't give tier lists too much importance. There are a few characters who are very useful and a handful that are pretty bad, but for the most part everyone has a use and can have a team built around them. Use who you like first and foremost. You'll eventually collect pretty much all of the 1-3 star characters since you can get almost all of them through the Friend Point gacha. Don't count them out, many of them are surprisingly good at what they do. Cu in particular has some of the best survivability in the game. Arash and Spartacus are good candidates for leveling and strengthening early since they can become very effective at farming XP. Euryale will destroy male sabers, of which there are several difficult bosses. If you really wanted to min-max you could reroll until you get Hercules, but you don't have to if you're tired of resetting. Carmilla was my starter 4 star and isn't a bad pick. Her NP generation is very high, with both her Arts and Quick cards being powerful. She can spam it quite often with the right setup. She's also useful starting out since Orleans is full of dragons, who are weak to assassins. You'll eventually meet Elizabeth in the story; Carmilla is a grown up version of her and is incredibly embarrassed by that fact. She's one of the first of many villains who later turns into a gag character. She also has an animation update coming. I believe it should be around October? The story mode is fairly easy at first. A good high-level support should be able to carry you all the way to America, and it only starts to get properly difficult around Camelot, by which point you should start to have a stable of leveled servants. Don't forget to set your own supports. You can set one for each class and one slot for any class. A good early goal is to try and get it so that you can clear the 40ap ember daily reliably. A steady supply of 4* XP cards will make leveling go much quicker. As mentioned before, Spartacus and Arash are good for this. They have AoE NPs and a skill that will give them 20-30% charge. You can pair this with a CE that gives starting charge and maybe a support like Merlin or Zhuge Liang/Waver that can give them an additional 20-50%. With this they should be able to quickly take out two waves of XP hands with no fuss. Eventually you'll stop getting capped by xp and start getting capped by materials. The best way to get materials is through the frequent events. They have stores where you can buy mats using event currency and usually have better drop rates as well. Some of them are story locked, but those that aren't will usually have some easier nodes so that beginners can take part as well.

I've been rerolling my first summon for a while and I'm a little sick of it. You'll eventually get a robust lineup of 3 (and below, even) star servants who can put in good work in every class to supplement any lack of high rarity servants you might suffer from. All of the starters are pretty good*, although some are better than others *except stheno dont @ me snake apologists Really though, the game isn't difficult enough to worry about wanting an "optimal" or "meta" lineup unless you're in the mood for some brutal 100% completion sadomasochism. If you are like that, though, I would maybe recommend playing a game that does not have a function designed to draw hypothetically infinite money from you...? Otherwise, raise the Servants that you have/are functional until you have the Servants that you ~want~

One of the streamer ultrawhales had Benienma at Bond 10 not even three days after she came out, and they weren't actually trying. If you farm Lancelot's Fake War Crimes Camp in Camelot you can max bond at a frightful rate. Don't see the point in doing that, but I guess some people do!

I have finally corrected a grave oversight I have ignored for too long, and gotten Spartacus all levelled up and his two latter skills maxed out. Now I just need some Fous to feed him and he'll be ready to take over Grinding duties from my almost max Bonded Raikou. Now I just need more Proof of Hero for Arash's NP Charge skill.

Plugging along in the main story since I can't do the Dante event. London is a lot better paced than Rome and Okeanos.

I felt that Okeanos had better pacing than London for the most part. The majority of London was aimless wandering because the protagonists didn’t know what to do. Suddenly Wyverns but with robots instead. There are cool parts near the end of London, but those events felt forced by the plot needing to wrap up.

Apparently there is a manga out that adapts Epic of Remnant 3, which is Shimosa, and the way Gudako uses Servants in that is basically like Stands. So I guess that's the closest we'll get to a canon explanation for how the Servants fight, they're Stands.
