Also I'm sure they're great guys but I saw them back when they toured for Ascendancy and man they seemed like giant wangs. Both Matt and Corey were wearing Trivium shirts and they went on a tangent about how cool their Dimebag Darrell Signature Series BC Rich Guitars were or whatever

as the resident trivium fanboy, i think shogun is like their 3rd worst album. i never really understood why that one got so much praise but the others didn't In Waves > Ascendancy > Sin and the Sentence > Ember to Inferno > The Crusade > Shogun > Silence in the Snow >>>>>>> Vengeance Falls Snow Cone Capone posted:Also I'm sure they're great guys but I saw them back when they toured for Ascendancy and man they seemed like giant wangs. Finally heard Amo in full, and here's the thing: It's a mostly OK record but coming from a band with a relatively strong catalog, it does feel like a huge step backwards and I don't see myself revisiting it as much as I do with There is a Hell... or even the previous That's the Spirit.

Cancer Bats still put on one hell of a show. Bonus passing them on the stairs and getting a very Canadian "saw-ry" as they went past.

ShoogaSlim posted:never really hosed with Last Ten Seconds of Life but their new stuff is heavy as poo poo: Yeahh this is good. Heard the single whenever they released it then forgot about it until now. Their first release is one of my favorite dumb breakdown-centric deathcore albums and I'm glad they're back(ish) to that sound. I've always wanted them to be great but the weird nu metal direction they went was the most forgettable poo poo even if it wasn't really bad. There's still some of that lingering on this album but it's a lot more fun overall.

Zao has some new poo poo out today: https://officialzao.bandcamp.com/album/decoding-transmissions-from-the-m-bius-strip 2 song EP. They put out a single song a bit ago as a split with Yashira. I thought it was just okay. Then the other day track 1 of this EP came out. Again, just thought it was okay. But Track 2 "I Saw the Devil", that's my jam.

twerking on the railroad posted:So then horizons was album 1? Everything after those two varied between somewhat decent (Suicide Season), pretty darn good (That's the Spirit and Sempiternal) and loving rad (There is a Hell...). So far, Amo felt kinda like a step back after TTS, but maybe I'll warm up to it. Also, both Tesseract and Architects can eat them for breakfast as far as rad discographies go. ninja edit: Also, Oli Sykes can go gently caress himself.

Oh, lol. My bad. To get this back on topic, from the new Parkway Drive album I must accept that I sorta liked that one song that kinda sounds like a dumbed-down "Sad But True".

My general vibe towards Periphery has always been "oh, a new Periphery album? I'll listen 3 or 4 times and then forget about them til the next album," but that track rips and I hope the rest of the album goes that hard
