was the fact the Osaka team was making this game and not the teams that worked on KH1, 2, and ReCoM, but not everyone can know that or care.

this is a misleading way to frame the development of this game. The “Osaka Team” working on this game had over a hundred members brought in from Tokyo to work on the game. The scale of development is not comparable to the PSP and 3DS releases

it's definitely nothing compared to the actual cool bonus bosses in previous KH games, but nothing's gonna live up to my expectations of Lingering Will and Mysterious Figure so I'm not gonna act like I was expecting anything to.

it’s not a coincidence that all the cool bonus bosses that people loved in thee past were all released anywhere from 6 months to a year after their games originally launched.

The only challenging postgame boss in KH1 when it launched in Japan was Phantom. Sephiroth, Ice Titan, and Kurt Zisa were released months later in the English version
In KH2 the only boss in either version of the base game was Sephiroth. Lingering Will was added a year later in FM
BBS when it launched in Japan only had Vanitas Remnant. No Mysterious Figure. No critical mode either, for that matter
Dream Drop Distance only ever got Julius because the game never got a major expansion

Postgame optional superbosses just aren’t a big priority in the development process. The people who make these games clearly enjoy making battles like these but they only appeal to a small part of the audience and aren’t going to be experienced by most players, so they have never been fleshed-out aspects of these games until after release when the core game is finished.

square loves dlc and nomura is notorious for always wanting to add new poo poo to his games to the point where it can bog down development. there is a 100% chance that he has a huge laundry list of poo poo he wants to add and this is one of the reasons every major KH game has had a rerelease

keyblade dual wielding was because he had vens heart, it would be lame to take away keyblade dual wielding at the end of the game so they just removed it.

This is bullshit. Sora used two keyblades because it was cool as gently caress, and Nomura decided afterward to explain it. I see absolutely no reason he can't do so again.

But honestly, because keyblades transform now, I'm okay with not dual wielding. Who cares about using two keyblades when one can just transform into like a thousand swords on its own?

The easiest way to have Sora do dual-wielding was mentioned a ton of pages back: Give him the Two Become One Keyblade and have it formchange into Oathkeeper and Oblivion. Problem solved.

they’ve been vague about the DLC but in the past couple months Nomura has said
1) He wants to do one major paid expansion and a bunch of small freebies
2) He wants paid DLC to be additional gameplay content, not story stuff and not, like, just keyblade skins and stuff
3) He hates season passes.

so I don’t think FM-style stuff is really a stretch here at all

I played KH1/2 when they came out and enjoyed them so I figured I'd buy the whole package with KH3 and revisit them and try out the handheld games I never played.

I'm played through Wonderland in KH1 and holy poo poo, I had no idea the game would feel so shockingly clunky and dated. I don't play a whole lot of older games but I do so occasionally and I still wasn't expecting this. I think the camera is making me motion sick.

Now I'm wondering if I should push through KH1, swap to a different game and hope it's better, or just accept I might have wasted $40 and start KH3.

Simba in KH3 is just as broken as his Limit Break in KH2 was. And the summon animation is metal as gently caress. You can't tell me that watching a flaming lion lumber into existence isn't loving cool.

the links suck because magic is so good and feels great in this game(not just because it is overpowered, but moving and casting and the way different spells combo into each other and combo on themselves... so good...) and not using magic in exchange for a summon is unacceptable. it also does not help that the links themselves are... not great. if links did not require a full MP bar i would have actually used them more

Fojar38, you mentioned earlier you discovered the Zero XP runs were meant to be paired with Kingdom Key and the next couple. I figured it was because they have the "Hidden Potential" skill, but all the keyblades seem to have it. Is there another reason? Enjoying the 0XP run so far. Actually easier in some places but more challenging in others.

I noticed that too after I posted it so now I'm not sure what precisely hidden potential does. The description makes it sound like its to make level 1 more viable but if they all have it and it's for level 1 damage scaling I don't see why they even felt the need to make it an ability.
