I'm so sick of these posers who only go blind after they learn to skate. Here's a dude who had to learn to skate AFTER he was blind like a real skateboarder: Tommy Carroll vid: https://vimeo.com/56902953 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...disability.html

I pushed mongo for my entire skateboarding life because I didn't know better and YouTube didn't exist so now at 34 I'm having a hell of a time trying to correct it. It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. It probably doesn't help that I'm a lefty riding goofy but with a dominant right leg. It made soccer easier I guess.

You could just try to learn to skate switch with a regular push. Might be easier to learn than if you pushed normal your whole life? E: weird typo DR FRASIER KRANG fucked around with this message at 19:49 on Feb 4, 2019 |

Nah I don't think that would work since I do every board sport goofy (wake, snow, etc). It's been over 15 years since I've skated but it's all coming back to me. The pushing is just a struggle lol

I'm literally the same age and a lifelong mongo pusher and I think it'd be impossible to unlearn that before I died.

I pushed mongo for a few years and managed to sort myself out, there is hope. It was weird feeling at first but it comes quicker than you might think. Just make a point of setting a goal every time you're out on your board (I'm going round the park 5 times pushing 'correctly' or something). The upside is that you'll eventually be really solid pushing both ways.

As a reformed mongo pusher, pushing regularly is infinitely better and you're doing yourself a disservice by not doing it. You'll skate much better by not being off balance and constantly having to awkwardly put your feet back into place. lol

Also, for all the ways that skateboarding has changed since when I was REALLY into it (meaning the early 00s), I think the thing that I like the most is how much more svelte the shoes are these days. I recently saw a picture of myself rocking the hell out of some big honkin' Chad Muska Circas and couldn't help but laugh
