It does the same thing whether I'm playing on my PC or through the steam link (where I can relax on the sofa with a gamepad like a real Yakuza) so I'm just gonna put up with having my monitor's native 1200x1920 instead of my TVs 1080x1920.

going from 0 as my first game to Kiwami I'm kind of confused as to how and why Majima a pretty layered character just turned into the yakuza version of the joker?

Yeah that seems to be everyone’s reaction (including mine). Apparently his arc makes more sense if you play the games in order of release instead of in-fiction chronology so I’m just gonna strap in and enjoy the ride. Additionally, majima only had apparently a handful of scenes in the original game, the bulk of his content is added for kiwami (or the remaster, I forget which, kiwami is the only one i played). He’s still a oddball in his original scenes though.

I've only played 0 so there is probably a lot I am missing, but personally I love the idea that Majima is trying to make Kiryu as strong as possible as thanks/payback for protecting Makoto and keeping her alive when he couldn't. If I remember right, he only starts putting on the crazy voice/weirdo characteristics at the end of 0 to keep Makoto from recognizing him, right?

Pretty much. He decided it would be better for her sake to just let her go. He's a trouble magnet and she deserves a happy ending. This whole plotline gets tied off in Kiwami 2. pissed i cant play as Majima in Kawami, was my favorite character to play as in 0 I'd just spam the break dancing style and every fight was easy as poo poo. I have no idea how to play as Kiryu

A recurring theme amongst the people attempting to dampen the hype of other people who were excited for Kiwami was "its not as good as 0 and its more of an expansion than a full blown huge game". And all of that is true and its still absolutely amazing.

That combo got me through a lot when I didn't feel like trying hard

Which is extremely awesome and is still more content and fun than I've gotten from $60 titles this year. It just pales in comparison to Zero and Kiwami 2 because holy poo poo those games. It's running as smooth as anything, and looks gorgeous. I'm just assuming Majima got into my copy and is trying to get me to toughen up. If the resolution keeps dropping every time I loose to him I'll let you know.

If you are new to Puyo - Stack the right three columns as fast as you can, all the way to the top, creating groups of three Puyos. When they're full, trigger a grouping near the bottom, which will hopefully cause a chain. Repeat.

However, I do think they gotta Kiwamize Ishin because people probably can't go back to an early PS4 yakuza game. They gotta have several fighting styles named after sort of realistic sword schools/gun use. maybe even include a picture mode where the game takes your image and turns it into Ukiyo-e.
