I love when people expect me to look up their purchases through their card. You really think that they'd let a guy making a dollar above min wage have the access to look up your transaction history?

I was too much of a scared, socially awkward dork to explain to him that our "computer system" was basically diner/restaurant notepads with carbon paper duplicates because this was basically a little mom-and-pop store not PIzza Hut. I spent what few points of courage I had at that time on making the buff guy shouting at me get his drivers license out of his truck to show it to me before he got his pizza.

Either way it wasn't long after that the guy who owned the shop said "gently caress this, we're not taking checks anymore. It's the 21st century."

therobit posted:LOL nice one. Worth it if they complain to corporate or whatever too. Best part is that "corporate" is my buddy and his wife, and they'd have my back since the guy said he was specifically coming to make a scene. Also actually had to call police today, because this guy we banned about 7 years back for creeping on kids decided to blow my phone up to the tune of 14 calls in as many minutes . Said officer answered call 15, and got it through to the guy not to call or come in. Edit: Now that I'm home and not phoneposting, gonna go into more details. Apparently, when the first store opened way back in 2010, before there even was a second store, this guy had gotten his rear end banned from following younger kids around the store. He's not on any sex offender registries, even now, but we're not really gonna allow him the chance to hop on, at least not while he's at our stores. I'd only really started working with the company later in the year 2015, so never heard of this guy, never dealt with him, etc. All of a sudden, back on January 25th, he starts just nuking our phones from orbit. Like, not just the one store, but all three, over the course of an hour. He was told in no uncertain terms by all three of the employees at the time that we did not want his business, if he kept it up it would be harassment, and to please stop calling. At that point, I'd had Ray, one of my other employees, put a note in the back office with his number and a message not to pick up, and when I was in the next morning I'd found the guy's number in the phone and changed the caller ID to "Don't Answer". Figured that was the end of it. Let it be known that age does not bring wisdom, as I was naive enough in my mid-30s to believe that this would actually be the end of it. Today was actually surprisingly busy for a Wednesday, little did I realize that it was because there was a snowstorm incoming. So my phone was ringing off the hook for a while, people constantly coming in and out of the store all day. Then I get a phone call, and wait to see the ID. "Don't Answer" Considering how busy I was, I muted the ringer and let it go to machine, hoping he'd just leave a message and I can just delete it. Nope, couldn't be so lucky. So around call #4 or 5, I pick up, immediately let him know that he was told not to call our store, and if he were to continue I'd call the police. Didn't even wait to hear if he was actually on the other side, didn't give him a chance to get a word in edgewise, just told him to leave us alone and hung up. Of course, the fucker calls again. I'm with a customer by now, so I mute it again for the next three calls, then have to wait until he's done before I can pull up the local police on our speed-dial. First time I'd had to use it, but nice to have it there. So I explain that I'm the manager of this branch, that this guy has kept calling the store, we'd told him that we didn't want his business the last time he blew up our phones and that if he called again that we'd get law enforcement involved, and well, here we are. Dispatch lets me know that an officer is on the way, and by the time douchebag finishes call #14, the officer walks in to take my statement. I don't even get a word out of my mouth, even to say hi, before he obviously calls again. I look at the officer and ask her if she wants to take it, because it's the guy again. After she gets off the phone with him 10 minutes later, she's like, the first words out of his mouth were, "I want to speak with a police officer." So I explain the situation, why he's banned, etc, and get told that the police would appreciate it if we blocked his phone number, but if things escalated they have my back. She then also asked about what may be going on with her NES, as she plays a lot of Mario, and the second player port doesn't want to work. Come to think of it, I should stop by the station tomorrow and see if there's anything I can do to help fix it, as NES controller ports are incredibly simple to replace... The bathroom lock was broken today and the manager insisted on re-installing the latch inside the bathroom. I told him it was a bad idea because we had a drugged up guy who locked himself in and slept in our bathroom for hours and the cops almost had to break the door open to get him out. He insisted on it so I told him if he wants it that bad he could install it himself and I walked away. The manager goes on a temper tantrum so loud that all the customer could hear him. I finished up poo poo that was supposed to be his job, then replaced the broken lock while he did nothing. The fucker is a giant snitch so I won't be surprised if he complained to the GM and probably gossip to everyone about me. So much for staying low, but gently caress I'm not gonna put up with bullshit from arrogant old farts.

Honestly, if the guy is as much of a piece of poo poo as you say, I wouldn't touch a drat thing that's supposed to be under his purview unless it directly impedes you from doing your job. I'd just let him hang himself. If you do end up doing a bunch of his work, though, be sure to be loud and obnoxious about how you're helping him out by taking on some of his work while you have tons of your own to get to as well. Just slather it on with the passive-aggression, not just to him and your co-workers, but also point out how much of a good guy you're being to customers, taking on another manager's entire workload so he can sit around and not have to worry about anything. If you can't gently caress him, kill him with kindness.

That would not be in my state (MA), tipped workers have to make the regular minimum wage ($12/hr) when wages and tips are combined (min wage for tipped employees is $4.35). https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massachusetts-law-about-minimum-wage#massachusetts-minimum-wage-

In good states (like Oregon) they make minimum wage and tips are on top of that. OR Minimum wage is currently like $10.50 but is tiered for increases every year until it hits $13.75 in most counties, $13.00 in "non urban " counties, and $14.75 in the Portland area. After that it is supposed to be tied to inflation. But if you add tips for a decent server on top, that would actually be a living wage, at least while you're young.

If she wants her hiragana and katakana and all that Kanji she can ship some books over with all the import fees she likes. Paying a ridiculous mark-up for cheap merchandise would make her that much closer to being an exploitable Otaku anyways. My store has exactly two bays for French books and you expect us to have an up to date manga section that isn't in English?
