I'm happy that someone's trying to do something different in the superhero genre, but in my eyes that looks like it's trying way too hard to be A Serious Film. Certainly not damning by any means but it really rubs me the wrong way. Though drat does that Arthur fellow have good taste in suits.

The grimy 70s New York vibe kicks 9 kinds of rear end in that trailer. The laugh rules hard as well. I had literally no expectations for the movie but based on that trailer it's a day 1 watch for me.

It's a completely standalone Elseworlds story so, short of making Joker into a good guy, I'm fine with whatever direction they take him. He can be the Wayne's killer too, it wouldn't be so farfetched. Maybe he kills them without make up on as his first true descent into inhumanity.

I'll watch it just to see Robert DeNiro playing a late night host. I can't think of anyone who is more antithetical to a late night host's personality. EDIT: Also, that's just a drat good-looking trailer. The shadow on the wall and Joaquin's strained back are great visuals.
