I would pay for a service that just provided me with a login for the apple tv apps without the live tv option. I never watch live tv, but I use the apps all the time to watch their on demand shows.

Yeah, I use my brothers Youtube TV account, but watch it maybe once every 2 weeks. If you go with Spectrum don't pay for a cable box, or HD, or any other bullshit. They have their own app that you can watch all your channels live and in HD for free with your login. It's on Roku, I know that because my dad uses it at his house.

I think a lot of the buffering issues are equipment/app based. I use Hulu and HBONow on a Shield as well as multiple ATV4K's and the Shield is where there is a 97% chance to see buffering and farting. :colbert:

During my week trial of Playstation Vue last week, totally different experience using it on a PS4, Roku Premiere, and the TCL Roku Interface on my TV.

I suggest people try these things on multiple devices during the trial periods.

Just started DirecTV now. Liking it more than PS Vue, but the 20 hour DVR is pathetic.

I kind of doubt it from this era, but it'd be nice to VPN in when I'm not at home and watch stuff. I found a "Media Access Key" in the menus but the URL it gives for more info is dead. I installed the Android app but I guess I need to get the account from my friend.

I strongly doubt a 2007 TiVo is going to work with any streaming service. The Xbox360 was one of the earliest non-PC devices that could do Netflix and it couldn't do it until like 2008.

It's $100/mo and still requires an internet connection, for now. I know their goal is to move the service to the 5G cellular network when they merge with Sprint, but that's way too high for what they are offering.

$100/mo, doesn't require broadband internet, and an app with the same experience on your phone/tablet? Sure, I can see the appeal in that for some people that don't want to pay $70+ a month for an internet connection at home. But that seems like a very niche market.

It's silly, but what would really interest me is having access to all those old Donald Duck/Mickey/Goofy cartoons that they used to play all the time on the Disney channel in the 80s. I always wondered why they don't have a channel full of those on the TV at Disney World. They have some, but they're either newer cartoons, or they cut them up for time.

But for $7 a month? I'd try it for awhile.

Very little Disney Jr content though. Doc McStuffins, Sofia The First, Vamparina, Puppy Dog Pals, Lion Guard, Elena of Avalor, Fancy Nancy, Muppet Babies, PJ Masks... that's the stuff my kid loves right now

Disney is trying to be the streaming service people who only have one OTT streaming service use and I don't think Netflix's pile of bad standup specials, middling movies, and indistinguishable original series is going to stop them.

It's got to be scary knowing the people coming for you know what they're doing.
