Carlton v GWS @ docklands in round 20 last year still drew 16.5k crowd. And we had to play hawks in tassie a few weeks ago and lose a victorian team game from our memberships. Hawks have 80k members. Yeah it is mothers day but plenty of families still go to the footy and make day of it. It takes 35k attendance or so to break even in ticket sales at docklands. This will have cost the hawks 40-60k to host the game today at the mcg with the lights on.

Normally the AFL would schedule two games for the Mothers Day Sunday, because NO team wants to play on it. I think that's when they experimented with Monday nights although they've ditched that for Thursdays. I'd have to check that.

I'm annoyed that this game is at the MCG but our Docklands home game is against West coast. People might have turned up to that one. But yeah, 3.20 on mother's day against the Giants was never going to happen.
