Back when I was a kid, there was a pizza joint near one of the malls called "Square-Pan Pizza." That was their shtick. It was pretty good. They disappeared once the mall got revamped into a bigger, better, more expensive mall that focuses on clothes. From a cursory google search, looks like it was part of a now-defunct chain. That picture reminded me of that place, although their pizza looked better than that.

LadyPictureShow posted:"Use real whipped cream, not imitation." I was going to say that Cool Whip is at least made with cream, but it's not. Reddi Wip is the one that's actually cream. Cool Whip seems to essentially be whipped margarine? The first ingredients are water and hydrogenated vegetable oils?

Thank you, and I mean that sincerely - I've been trying to work out what the hell it is and I can't ask him because he's gone offline. I was guessing mashed potato/tuna mush/white gravy (or maybe custard).

It's a common old-person dinner up north. Open-faced turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes with white gravy. Should have at least a LITTLE pepper though, ugh. Properly prepared the sandwich is delicious, especially if you get a nice thick piece of white bread and toast it enough so the gravy doesn't make it soggy. That picture is disappointment on a plate.

A customer at another place always called in their order ahead of time, and one item was always a tuna melt, specifically requested 'burnt to a crisp'. Beats me, but hey The Bloop posted:Bland slop is very comforting when you are sick and also in the deep cold of winter Open faced turkey or roast beef is an amazing dinner in the dead of January when everything is cold, miserable and gray.

I can't explain liking something literally "burnt to a crisp" but I like my toast (and other toaster-viable items) cooked right to the edge of burnt. Very dark brown overall, nearly black toaster-grill-marks. It is a dangerous game to play with unfamiliar toasters, but at home I know that putting the dial at 6.75 is perfect for Wegmans sliced bread and 6.25 for Thomas English muffins. I do my grilled cheese on higher heat than usual, getting it just to the border of being burnt but the innards of the bread are still soft. I also sometimes put mustard on my grilled cheese (the inside, you silly). Meat cooked on a grill or over a campfire is great when the edges get blackened and burnt too, as long as the whole thing isn't overcooked leather.
