Greed man, just pure simple desire for more.

Also moving into a rich neighborhood must make for an insane amount of "Keeping up with the Joneses" possibilities. Oh, the house two down from us bought a boat, let's get a boat too!

then at some point you hear someone talking about taxing the rich, and realize that higher taxes would mean you wouldn't be able to hire a weeked nanny (plenty of money still for the weekday one though), and that your wife would have to cut the hours of employees at her vanity business (only other logical place to save money).

I really don’t think that’s true 96-99, though there’s zero chance I’m going through the Classic Loveline back catalog (if that even exists) to find anything to that up. I know there was an ep in that period of time where he says something and drew says he sounds like a socialist to which Adam replies “maybe I am!”

I haven't listened to old Loveline in a long time but I think it is unlikely that, if Adam from 20 years ago saw himself current day, he would be overly happy with how he turned out. He probably never had great political views, but at least he didn't seem like a bitter old blowhard back then.

I have memories of him saying that government support programs for abandoned/abused kids were spending a dime to save a dollar (which is still a pretty limited frame but whatever, maybe he was taking apart an argument by its own terms I forget) because anything to steer them away from becoming a monster who propagates the cycle etc was worth it. He might still agree with that but in general when people’s politics change it’s usually less their on paper opinions and more a matter of emphasis. The emphasis has changed quite a bit!

I distinctly remember him screeching about how it's stupid that someone making 19K is taxed less, percentage wise, than a rich person and then getting really mad at a girl who called in to try and explain it to him, to the point where she was almost in tears. I can't remember what episode, although it'd follow that it was after he made money from the Man Show, (boy, did he and Jimmy ever diverge, I seriously wonder if they're still friends). It was one of the first times I heard Adam be truly lovely to someone who didn't really deserve it, I mean he yelled at folks from the get go, but they often said or admitting to doing reprehensible or wacko poo poo, but he was pretty even keeled at the beginning, subjectively speaking.

He and Jimmy are still friends in the sense that they get together a few times a year and haven't had a big blow out fight / official end to their friendship. You know those old friends you see once or twice a year but you don't really talk to much more than that? That's them. This is according to a recent interview on Howard Stern.

Not sure if this was a blip or reflective of an overall trend or just BS.

I occasionally download an episode when I need something for a trip and the ads are brutal.

Downloads are down because there is way more competition now. Adam had a big podcast because it was a handful of people doing it with celebrities. Now every comedian on the planet has one.

My guess is Adam will shift to political stuff full time. He doesn't put in the effort to compete in general comedy anymore. Whining to some boomers about how terrible millennials are is still good business.

Michael Avenatti has been arrested in New York trying to extort money from Nike. He had a co-conspirator in the plan, although at this time he has not been arrested.

Per CNBC

quote:

The co-conspirator was identifed by sources to NBC News as Mark Geragos, a high-profile California criminal defense lawyer. Geragos, who has not been charged in Avenatti's case, is currently representing actor Jussie Smollet in a case where the "Empire" cast member is accused of lying to Chicago cops about a purported hate-crime attack.

A person who answered Geragos's office phone told CNBC, "We are not at liberty to speak on the matter. We are not releasing any comments."

Wonder what they're going to say about this, if anything.

I dropped-in on an Adam & Drew episode today. It’s still poo poo.

One HOUR of ranting about Sherwood Schwartz and Sid & Marty Krofft!

Nothing new.

Not even a, “here’s my FYGM conservative shitlord translation of current events into a life lesson.”

Just, “rattle the PodcastOne scouring brush up my rear end a few times and let’s see if that fills the bucket.”

I’m simultaneously sad and happy I haven’t been missing anything.

Adam was always a bit of a blowhard but didn't have the cover to be a full-out idiot. He had his gig on KROQ in the morning show and then his Loveline stuff so he still had to hustle. If you look at his Mr. Bircham character, there was a lot of "drat these kids and their Stuff, I'm gonna complain!" Tinged with "well as a Middle Class Blue Collar Working Man what makes a Living With My Sweat" comedy.

He was a great counterpoint on Loveline, though I think Mike Catherwood eventually carved out an equally good niche.

What really gets to me is how completely crap Drew became once he became a Hollywood Celebrity Doctor. That man was super respectable in my eyes and Celeb Rehab tossed his "do no harm" mantra in the shitter.

I liked when they made RoboDrew with sound clips of his generic advice and it worked smoothly for a caller.
They tried making a RoboAdam but his rants were too specific and it just confused the caller.
