I don't think most of you understand Robert's vision. If he released Star Citizen on time it would ruin PC gaming instead of saving it. He is delaying it so other studios can catch up.

It's weird, 3.6 hit the PTU yesterday night but I haven't seen any victory laps on reddit or in this thread?!?

I need MoMA to get in here and tell me how cancelling all the AI and mechanics and only releasing 8 items out of 60+ scheduled is actually very good :smuggo:

In other news, they finally got those pesky shields tuned correctly.

TLDR: 10 minutes of sustained fire from 4 ships cannot down a single shield facing on a Hammerhead now. Citizens praise this as excellent game balance.

Well, yes. It's perfectly balanced. You see, I spent $750 on this ship, and they did not, and therefore I win. I'd better run if I see someone who spent $27,000 though!

I think what you will get eventually is that ships operated with a skeleton crew won't be able to replace parts on the fly as they malfunction. So the massive stress on the shields for going 100% all the time starts to malfunction. It could take a minute. Maybe 2 minutes. But if you are under constant pressure from all directions you will quickly learn the benefits of having a squire on board running about replacing fuses here and there.

By design, however, I think it's working as intended to have a 5+ crew battleship shrug off pressure from 3 "smaller" ships. Even if the pilot is flying solo.

Yes, I want to be a squire running around fixing poo poo.

I don't eat my bodyweight in gummi bears to be 'little'. Everything else is accurate. Total tinfoil, whole cloth conspiracy right up until the paperwork gets filed.

But I've always liked following the money, especially the money that gets a mention, then disappears forever, like the initial funding sources that Chris said he had before the Kickstarter went mental. I'm pretty sure that's the Kleins.

I can't find the post, maybe a thread bot can help me, but years ago MoMA, while defending the game, said something about the firey wraths of hell he would personally visit upon CIG were they to fail, however unlikely he felt that to be. It was almost Derek-esque, but I liked it because it was the only time he let his guard down and his inner doubt shined through.

Yeah they pretty much can't ever EVER announce that they won't deliver. But it doesn't appear that people will hold them to anything as long as they promise to keep going.

I might have guessed that this Marc Nitsche guy is overseeing the Roberts' family office, but I don't think they're actually wealthy enough for that to be a thing.
So I guess they really just want his very useful tax evasion experience.

He's there because the Calders have a board seat. Klein is the Roberts' guy, Marc replaces Dan Offner as the Calders' guy.

Nah, we've been speculating that for a while. That 46 million that was for marketing? CIG would have run out of funds without it according to their own books. The investors did their homework and that 46 million came with some serious strings attached, the most likely being Squadron 42 releases before the end of 2020. And if it doesn't, the investors reserve the right to sell back their shares and take the money right out of CIG's coffers. And if CIG doesn't have the 46 million lying around? Well, they have to liquidate the company to pay it all off.

VC types are usually pretty thorough, so they probably got personal guarantees from the three shareholders as well.

I mean, what else is new?

He might have made a firm commitment to launch SQ42 on X date to someone. It doesn't matter. Whatever promises he made or what ramifications it will have, he will find a way to continually delay.

The difference between breaking a promise to kickstarter backers and breaking a promise to a VC investor is it's harder. But he'll still absolutely do it. This is the same guy that got railroaded out of both Microsoft and the movie industry.
