Weird question: so you know those old games Arizona finds where you have to like fling a coin into a certain spot and it’s vaguely pachinko esqué? Are there any iOS adaptations? Also what are they called?

My understanding is that "medal games/token games" refers specifically to redemption games where you use medals/tokens to play to win more medals/tokens, which can then be exchanged for prizes. Remember kids, gambling is good for you.

Well I mean technically medal/token games and redemption games are also different things. So they are called 10 yen games specifically but they are medal/token games as many examples of Arino (aka Arizona) show, the prize is some sort of token/paper that is used to redeem free candy or a discount on purchase. If I recall correctly, even with the Game Center CX game, the money you put in isnt what is used on the play field but a medal/token. The prize that was dispensed was gum with show characters printed on them, which I'm sure are just growing more and more stale in my closet.

Might be. This isn't my field at all, it's more that games like pic related is what I always associated with the term.

I have a couple other of those tatsumi mook books, like the love hotel one and showa era boardgames. Cant read a word of em, just like looking at the pictures. Adamant posted:Might be. Kakaricho posted:Hey! I recognize those subtitled sections from the show! Okay, so, last I recall, Kibe knows about SA-GCCX but is about it because Japanese piracy laws are loving bonkers, with the sort of lovely and perfect consequence of Arino wondering why he was greeted with such a turnout at the KACHO IN USA special (to say nothing of the faxes and/or Cat Machine's SMM level + booze) There was also the legit English-language RETRO GAME MASTER release with subs by our own zari-gani From a taste of that video, I'm guessing the flow went original broadcast -> SA-GCCX -> [unknown Russian translators], which is to say, I'm also guessing GCCX doesn't have a licensed broadcast in Russia (and etc) What I want to know is how the GCCX staff explain the show's popularity to Arino, who is not only Japanese-only but legit surprised (again, as far as I know via this project and ancillaries) when people outside Japan know him.

The Russian fan that made the video just used SA-GCCX episodes. That's what I was joking about. And Arino knows, knowing his reactions (you get to know that kind of stuff when you watch him multiple times when subbing), he was playing dumb for some laughs. >Cat Machine's SMM level + booze They actually recruited for levels from fans overseas. His getting chosen, and his posting about it here is what led to the booze being sent.

I had forgotten abut Arino and Game Center CX but Im so glad I found the thread again. I binged all of Minecraft Surival Life last night. I love the interactions between Creation God Arino and Ponge Sempai Hamaguchi. I woke up my kiddo laughing when they burned down the Vindicators house The subtitle work is always amazing, the different sizes, colors and fonts really add to the viewing not detract from it. Thanks for all the hard work. Now I think I need to get a Switch and start playing.

Yeah I just finally tuned back into this thread after being absent for like 2 years. Gonna catch up on the... I guess 12ish episodes I missed. I'm not complaining, just remarking that it really isn't a lot that I missed in those years. I'll watch whatever you guys put out, I know you guys are all busy so we can't really complain. What I am curious is, is there a documented list of untranslated episodes, and is the priority of episodes considering more fun/interesting episodes (like a game he really gets stuck on, or a great candy trip)? It doesn't seem like you guys ask us to vote or input on episode selections.

Sorry for the double post but if things have slowed down a lot, maybe it might be worth considering doing a new torrent that has everything untranslated and translated? I know the problem is they're still doing new episodes but isn't the last 'mega' torrent several years old by now?
