Certain birds tagged with red bands get laid more often than ones with other colors or ones without. I forget where I read that, but birbs love adornments

Funnelwebs make a tasty snack for Kookaburras. Still, you do not want to annoy a funnelweb as they are very aggressive and will run to you to bite you multiple time rather than run away like less murderous spiders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqdRQxgtZtI There's a pair of Kookaburras in our street that like to annoy the rainbow Lorikeets that roost in a huge palm tree. They will sit and call and then swoop at the tree to make the Lorikeets panic and fly off. poo poo gets so noisy!

Man, one of my favorite things about living in Oz was hearing a tree full of kookaburras go off right around sunset. It's just such an amazing otherworldly racket.

My town is famous for its jackdaws. They like to gather into huge crowds (no pun intended) in the mornings and evenings to chat together before again going their separate ways to hunt for food or to sleep. (Un-)fortunately one of their favourite places is the huge maple tree just outside our bedroom window, so we get the mixed blessing of getting to regularly observe their very noisy social rites! They are very intelligent and social, and love to chat amongst themselves, which can be a bit of a bother at 6 AM in the morning on Sunday. Still, me and my wife love them to bits. The kookaburra sound so much worse, though! I mean, look at this birb

They patiently hang around at a safe distance, and the moment you turn your back - whoosh, they jump in for your food! I would be mad if they weren't just so drat awesome.

I wouldn't say my town is famous for them, but we do have loads of the little buggers and I also love them. I love observing them while I sit down for a coffee at my usual street cafe downtown. They'll just loiter about, totally not eyeing my food while scrounging around for crumbs, and sometimes one will just sit on a chair nearby and observe me right back. A few weeks ago one almost managed to snatch the last of my carrot cake while I was looking the other way momentarily. I did shoo it away, but honestly I was kinda sorry for having to do so. Personally I'd love to feed them the occasional scraps, but I don't think the café staff would be all too happy about that.
