I know it bears repeating just because of how unbelievable it is but as bad as we all know Greg Land is he's actually rather popular. And apparently fast and easy to work with. I don't care for his art at all but if the worst thing he does is trace issues of Maxim magazine then that puts him pretty low on the list of people we need to expel from the industry.

He can put an entire issue together in 3 days if he is to be believed. He has stock art ready to go and assemble figures and faces from his library of tracings.

Honestly I’ve hated the obvious tracing of actor for comics pretty much every time it’s done but god drat did I love when whoever it was traced Vincent Cassel as Doom during one of the Iron Man runs because god drat Vincent Cassel would RULE as Doom in the MCU.

I swear there was a period where Land started getting better a couple of years ago and then he just completely regressed. Maybe he just got lucky with his penciler or colorist, but it had gotten the point where I wasn't noticing the art, which was a major improvement.

He does everything except the colors usually. "Digital inks" and all that. He had his laptop at C2E2 like two years ago and demonstrated how he put a page together.

There's just something about bad '90's art that I love. I think part of it has to do with this:

in that they're bad in an eye-catching way. Bad '90's art is unusually distinctive, and I kinda like that.

Who exactly was "Boof" (and/or "the Bruise Crew") for, anyway? I read an issue out of awful 90s curiosity a while back and couldn't find anything in it to appeal to anyone.

To me it was Sam Kieth but without any semblance of talent. It's the apex awful 90's art, bad in such a way that it rips off all 90's elements at once.
