Several years ago at work, I saw my co-workers huddled around a clear plastic drinking cup containing something they had caught and they had no loving idea what it was. I knew what it was - a mole cricket. I told them about it and how neat an animal they were. Then I was going to tip the cup over and let it walk around a bit. This thing took off like a fuckking rocket across the floor and disappeared under some warehouse shelves. A mole cricket is kind of a cumbersome animal that is meant to burrow and dig underground. It is not a fast animal. I still don't know what happened.

There's a lot of footage like this around. Why aren't warehouses domino-proof? Do companies look at the extra cost in scaffolding vs the odds of the occasional domino disaster and decide to take the risk???

Yes There are a lot of warehouses that this doesn't happen in and metal costs a lot of money. Insurance will pay for death / injury.

I guess you see more of this footage because it's dramatic looking and gets shared a lot. The chance of this happening is tiny compared to the millions of banal accidents in warehouses that can maim/kill you. Single items falling from a high shelf, small stacks toppling as you move them around, trapping a body part between the racking and the thing that you're moving. In the clip I linked it looks like the shelving is really under-specced for the weight it's holding. When I worked in warehouses like that they could take knocks from powered movers and be fine, he doesn't hit it that hard and the whole lot comes down.
