Eh. I'd still count it. It's kind of semantics at that point. He was still a developmental guy and probably their best/latest claim to a home grown success.

Did he? I thought he at least worked house shows but was just never on TV. How quickly did he go from being hired to being on Raw?

Signed in 2013, worked NXT house shows starting in December 2014, TV debut in August 2015. He's one of the few that didn't do NXT TV, but still came up through the Performance Center.

I'd probably agree on Roman being the "success" part, but there's such an overwhelming amount of the roster that, if they didn't get their initial training from WWE, they've spent way more time in the system and learning than outside.

I believe it's worked shoot-style matches a la UWFi or the like. So lots of grapplefucking and MMA-esque striking.

This is a pretty accurate understanding. The Bloodsport shows started as basically an excuse to watch Matt Riddle shoot on Low-Ki, only when Low-Ki dropped out to prevent his own embarrassment Minoru Suzuki was brought in to complete the feel of the show as a love letter to the UWFi worked shoot-style. After Riddle got locked in the fed GCW tapped Josh Barnett as the go-to lover of both the English language and UWFi.

The ring does not have ropes and decisions are rendered only through submission or knockout.

It is pretty good stuff.

Also Low-Ki tried to get the promoter to pay him despite having dropped out of the show and presumably having to give MiSu a pretty hefty payday on short notice.

the name La Parka is owned by the company AAA, who LA Park wrestled for while he was in wcw. i don't know the whole story, but suffice to say he left AAA, kept the gimmick and costume, but had to change his name to LA Park. now, there IS a La Parka in AAA right now but... he loving sucks and pretty much exists to be a let down when he's not La Authentica Park.

Pentagon Jr. has a million different names in different companies because of AAA copyright poo poo too.

I think Colt Cabana did a podcast episode that was an ersatz Talkin Hogs and Poppin Dogs with Greg and Dustin, and Chuckie T gave a number of good-rear end wrestler names in there too.

the guy is like the absolute opposite of what we would consider "bad generic NXT names," its like he's a never-ending wellspring of NWA jobber names.

He also used a bunch of them in Chikara for a time. Back in 2015 he was hyping yet another BS retirement tour. When the 2016 season started, he was pretty much told, "No, you said you were retiring. You gave up the rights to the Chuck Taylor name. Somebody else already picked it up." So Stokely Hathaway made his debut in Chikara as R&B singer Chuck Taylor TM while the original had to start calling himself other names.

Apparently, just losing his name caused Orange Cassidy to no longer physically recognize him.
