if i haven't already mentioned it, 'death machine' is in fact a good entry in the genre. brad dourif as incredibly stereotypical computer guy working for the military-industrial complex is great, the protagonists are great, it's worth a watch.

disappointed that 'freejack' isn't on hulu or prime. oh well.

SRS Question for the computer touchers

I'm trying to dress a set for a cyberpunk shoot. Wanted to get some cabling strewn about willy nilly (cuz the future isn't OSHA compliant)

Looking around at everything from gas station hoses

to the power cabling on these bad boys

wondering where to get a bunch of the stuff. Doesn't need to function but I don't even know if scrapyards get stuff like this (the one I went to is mostly metals only).

I know y'all are just gonna tell me to just get a nylon hose or coax from Circuit City probably but the thickness is always nice

also could do with some monitors, best I've seen are CRTs for video editing but people want a buttload for it

Surplus stores. They have all kinds of poo poo like that.

*edit* Check out this one in ABQ: https://www.facebook.com/pg/SurplusCityAlbq/photos/?ref=page_internal These are the places you need to be looking. I'm reasonably certain there's one like it near you if you live in or adjacent to a city.

I read that Upgrade was a decent film but when I tried to watch it Amazon wanted some bullshit rental fee even though I have prime so screw that

if I'm gonna pay a monthly toll to my corporate overlord they'd better give me poo poo for free. I mean, they're never gonna reach a true cyberpunk dystopia until we're fully dependent on the corps.

theres always stuff like cable covers and things that look very cyberpunk set dressing from the 90s https://www.microcenter.com/product/312860/split-loom-cable-organizer

theres way cheaper stuff at stores of course or through the ubiquitous megaamazon

I read this article about Japanese Cyberpunk history; it's pretty good even if it was restating stuff I mostly already knew:

http://www.midnighteye.com/features/post-human-nightmares-the-world-of-japanese-cyberpunk-cinema/

it recommends the book Tokyo Cyberpunk: Posthumanism in Japanese Visual Culture which I looked up and lol at the price

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01FYBS8HQ/

yeah I will not be paying over fifty notes for an ebook.
