The sound design is incredible. They did a great job making things sound powerful and adding in a bunch of audio cues that you can use to your advantage.

I love that the maps feel like going back to CoD 4 and MW2. They're not all great, but I really like finding the powerful positions in each one and kind of making them my home for much of the round.

ARs are back to being good again. They're extremely effective at countering snipers, who are given away by obvious lensflares.

p. good cod imo

Basically my assessment of it as well. I’m pretty terrible at this game but I’m enjoying it a lot. The sound brings me back to the days of Bad Company 2 and the verticality of some of the maps reminds me of stuff like Crash from CoD4.

Aw nuts. My PC is recently upgraded, so I assume it happens to most people, and I wish they'd just include loading screens instead of hiding it in a way that's really poorly hidden and still intrusive.

No. You just party up with friends before entering public match but the way that’s handled is confusing. It took me some poking around the menus because I assumed public match would mean non partied play. It’s just named/nested stupidly.

I find it hilarious people complaining about the politics of a loving war game. What did you expect? Just shoot dudes with goons and have fun who gives a gently caress about the narrative. It’s always been lovely with most war games. War criminals consulted on most these games.

If war is a sensitive subject to an individual then maybe they should avoid war games? There are plenty of other games that don’t have lovely narratives.

Yeah. My personal opinion is it was ok for a cod game. It’s nowhere near as bad bo2 or with ghosts. It feel like it’s as close as infinity ward could get to doing spec ops the line type deal. Obviously it’s not as drat as spec ops is but I liked Farah and Hadir.

I don't know what you are talking about, the game is set in the fictional country of Urzikstan, and any relation to any possible mass attack by American troops being pinned on "the bad guys" russia is entirely coincidental.

I sorta assumed Urzikstan is basically Chechnya mixed with Syria. It was probably a bloc country or some such and Russia has been trying to keep it under their thumb because it’s a port country so they use an army of little green men to keep in under lock and key. I guess they did their own highway of death there.

It’s one of the best looking games I’ve played since I got my new laptop and it’s so drat smooth.

Speaking of playing it on a laptop, I love that it has cross play. I can drop into a lobby in seconds since every platform can play together and I can play against other people with controllers only? Hell yes.

Because it's so unnecessary. Basically everything that is bad about the game could be removed without affecting the story in any major way, and all of them were things they knew people were going to find lovely. They're there for the sake of edge and that's really it, making people commit horrendous acts of violence so that you feel like you're playing a grown up shooty game.

It's basically the Christopher Nolan Call Of Duty.

It was like the devs asked how they could recreate Ambush/Cracked, then made it eight times bigger and a Hell of a lot worse.

It's weird because on the scoreboard, every loss I've had on that map has been very close, but I've never felt like I was able to win at any point. Having that bridge get taken early is so demoralising, lol.

The “edge” in Modern Warfare is fine, it’s that the overall story is so shallow and frankly thoughtless that it doesn’t hold up. Like if you wanted to do not-Syria justice, it would be about America’s incompetence and malice arming al-Qaeda and all the other evil poo poo that Modern Warfare used to paint the Russians out to be bloodthirsty dogs.

Has there ever been a war fought that wasn’t full of war criminals? Most of them if not all of them on both sides.

If you have played any COD game you know their poo poo as far as war goes. loving Oliver North helped create black ops 2. This isn’t anything new and it won’t ever change.

Drilling into my skull "take it slow, lean more" made the MP games tonight waaaaaay more enjoyable. Until I understand/learn the maps and the various sight lines / flanking options, I'm keeping myself from running like an idiot. On the bigger maps, I find it best to simply pick a zone / area and treat it as its own map then control / run around it while letting the rest of the team cover the rest. I even had a drat good match in the London map where I picked a couple of lanes and just alternated between them.

honestly, this. id say the edgieness is still more mature than say the black ops games. kinda like a nolan edge. and it has themes and ok characters, the issue is everything is vague in game politics so none of it has as much bite. like sure AQ acts and look like a bunch of salafist isis type psychos, but they don't have the retoric. its all vague anti western poo poo. the russians are the baddies but thats vague too. like sure it has the cloudy "proxy wars are hosed up" thing but it doesnt do much with it because the writers don't want to piss anyone off. i feel like if it wasnt a COD game, the story would have had alot more freedom. i still like the campaign and i kinda like how its a remake of one but with 2019 writer/campaign making compared to 2007. same with the edge. the whole thing kinda feels like nolans batman movies.

yep. BO2 is weird because it wants to make bad guy man sorta in the right(he got hosed hard by america in the cold war multiple time, some of it on him but alot not) but than he is sorta leftist at times but its all vague and poo poo and that turns off because the whole plot is basicaly him wanting to gently caress over various people. i still think BO2 is the worst, maybe next to ghosts and BO3.

I've seen some complaints about not being able to rush around from the usual places but uh, I definitely don't see it. Putting on specialist streaks and running around like a spaz with a model 680 has been some of the most fun I've had in COD in years. The only super annoying thing I've run into is that horrible infiltrator mission. 10 finishers? gently caress me that's a pain in the rear end, but I've had some success in ground war of all places. People really, really don't pay attention in that mode.

There were only a few instance where this was VERY annoying (mainly the initial assault on the final mission) but otherwise Realism mode was pretty drat fun and good to play the campaign in. The set pieces are a lot slower and methodical and allow you to handle things room by room even in the more open environments. You die in 2-3 bullets but you can 1 shot every single enemy if you land those headshots and almost all encounters give you a half second to land the shot first.

There’s some achievements that are going to be fun to hunt.

Man, do I love the riot shield.

I don't know why because it's not like it does anything for my K/D, but I never really get frustrated at dying when using the shield.

However, I really need to have a dedicated buddy or two following me around to take out the guys trying to shoot me.

Also, I really wish (or maybe it's there and I haven't unlocked it) there was something like the MW2 fast hands perk (I think that was it, maybe it was blops) that lets you reset the timer on grenades because I miss being able to do that with a shield.
