That's on me- I had the image of Renato Arlem's Batroc in mind, who was more of a beautiful brute, but never really made that clear in the script, and Mike's Batroc ended up prettier.

The story is okay at best and really wants you to care about whatever Cates is doing with Venom and symbiotes and everything, but the art is just incredible.

I was interested in where they’d go with Knull at first but it’s been disappointing that the answer was “nowhere” and then “back to Carnage for the umpteenth time”. How many times have they done the “Carnage is back and he’s made a bunch of other people Carnage Jrs” anyways? Like at least 4, right?

Carnage USA was probably the last great Carnage story. Shame about Cates Venom. That first arc fired on all cylinders.

On the other hand I'm not sure this is a writing error or a commentary on how dumb shock jocks are...  In non-Hulk matters it was fun to see Drumheller in the Absolute Carnage Weapon Plus tie-in but I'd have liked to see more terrible giant dinosaur statues and fewer rolling hills of evergreens to get the true Drumheller vibe. Immortal Hulk and Daredevil were both very good this week. Chip! Zdarsky is handling the emotional shading of both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk very well but I miss his lighter work. Immortal Hulk was definitely interesting. I feel like the Amadeus of a few years ago might've been right by Banner's side in all this, but it certainly makes sense that the Amadeus who's been hanging out with the Champions and the Agents of Atlas these past couple years might not be extraordinarily gung ho about Woke Hulk's fun new radicalism. Namor, though.
