Yakuza 5 was so ambitious that I can see RGG trying to do another story like that for PS5

I'm still mad about them getting rid of Tanimura's actor and therefore also anything related to the character as well as also taking Nair out with him. She was a really cool side character and also his combo into heat moves system was neat.

Yakuza 7 seems similarly ambitious to me, maybe it won't be but I get the sense.

I absolutely disagree, 5 has the hottest finishing stretch of just about any Yakuza game except maybe 0.

So this photo mini game in Kiwami 2

It’s basically soft core porn! It even uses the same music as the phone club from 0!

I uh didn’t know what to expect but it’s Yakuza so I shouldn’t be surprised

Yakuza 7 will have more returning characters from the previous games (Saejima, Majima, Daigo). Read some more at the article.

Don't most of the games have actual AV stars at this point?

Whenever I have to get a porn minigame done I just pass it to my wife and we have a chuckle over it.

I found the real footage porn game from 6 funny and kind of charming, but the K2 version left me cold for some reason. I don't remember it super well. I think I was disappointed because at first I thought I was going to get to actually take pictures and get them graded Pokemon Snap-style.

Kiwami 1's the only steelbook I've got that I really liked, personally. I haven't had much luck seeing good ones though. I've only got the Dragon's Crown one as the second. :v:

having done 4 and 5 for a second time about 4 months ago after doing them almost a year ago, i can remember 5 way more than 4 despite 5 taking around 300 hours before completion both times with how much loving around i do

Both essentially function the same but there’s something endearing about watching Kiryu hunt and peck out “B-O-O-B-S”

So in Yakuza 3 apparently some sub-stories can have a bad ending? Some of my completed ones have a star and others have a checkmark, like teaching that kid to talk to girls and I'm pretty sure Kiryu ruined his life.

Yes it's only very recently that it changed so you can't outright fail a substory

It used to be really restrictive back when. I remember playing Yakuza 1 PS2 once and failing that beginner sub story where the dine and dash dude runs away because you're expected to follow the guy's model in real time or find him relatively quickly otherwise he just gets away. They've done a pretty good job of sanding off the edges.

They still count for completion purposes at least, you just get bad completion instead of good

No spoilers, the biggest connection to mainline Yakuza is referencing vaguely referencing Kiryu, and one (1) sidequest he did.

Hell, playing Judgment first might make that more exciting even. You'll never know when out of nowhere you'll get to say "that's where that came from?!"

Horace Kinch
Aug 15, 2007

Yeah the closest Judgment comes to Yakuza territory is that you'll be encountering Tojo Clan guys and you can paint your Drone with Kiryu's tattoo, and it takes place in Kamurocho for the billionth time.

It's just not working for me. I'll beat it just because I want to know what happens, but I went from playing Akiyama to playing a guy whose special ability is completely worthless against the boss he has to fight over and over AND over again.

I just want Kiryu! Or Majima! And to not get stunlocked by an rear end in a top hat who is immune to grapples.

With Saejima focus on all the skills that let him super armour through everything, once you have those you can smack anything other than a couple of annoying bosses to kingdom come with his charge attacks.

His start in the prison is genuinely one of the lowest points in the whole series.
