Ok, I'm trying to think of an 80s song, and it sounds a LOT like the Neutron Dance by the Pointer Sisters, but that's not it. It's sort of a mix between that and maybe Holiday Road by Linsdey Buckingham. It was from an 80s comedy, and I *think* the movie starred John Candy, but even looking that up, I can't find anything, or maybe I'm just missing it. Now that I think of it, maybe it was Chevy Chase.

I remember a high-pitched synth playing five notes, each higher than the last, the fourth one being the longest (like, "bah bah bah baaaaah-bup"), and that'd repeat over a beat that, again, sounded a lot like The Neutron Dance or Holiday Road.

EDIT: Another sound-alike to this mystery song is the theme to the show The Edison Twins. It's in that 'everyone's happy and it's the 80s and we're all using the same beat' genre.

This is a real stretch, and only vaguely matches in one or two ways, but at this point I can't resist: is there any chance you're remembering the "do do do doooooo"s from Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero"? It's in Who's Harry Crumb, toward the end when he's riding the stair truck at the airport:

No, the song I'm trying to find is super happy, like just completely pop-y drivel even; one of those songs that could only have been written back then. Thank you, though!

I am not, no. Way more upbeat and processed than that. But thank you for trying! I know I'm probably overthanking, sorry if it's annoying, but I'm also legitimately appreciative of anyone who takes time to help try and figure out some random goon's 25+ year mystery.

That first one almost sounds like it, but it isn't it. I should probably record myself doing the riff that I'm trying to think of and post it here.

A friend of mine's looking for a music video he saw a while ago, featuring "a girl who has raw egg in her mouth, and gives that egg to a guy by kissing him. It's just some random alternative rock band with lyrics about wild love." Apparently the band had a simple name, but he can't recall who they were for the life of him. Anyone have any ideas?

Is there a John Darnielle song (or someone who sounds like him) that has a line to the effect of "we believe what we see on TV"? Those may not be the exact words. I heard a bit of this but didn't recognize it.

Looking for an imitation Beach Boys song from probably '65-75, in the vein of "Beach Baby" by First Class. The chorus started with the phrase "Over the weekend" and I'm fairly sure that was the title. But it is definitely not the Playboys song by that title nor the Nancy Wilson song. It's more up tempo and bubble gummy than either of them.

I'm trying to figure out the name of a Texas country song I heard on local radio in Corpus Christi a while back. Its real slow, played just on acoustic guitar I think.

The first chorus is something like "Am I just different, or is everybody different round here?"

And then the following choruses are all different variations like "Am I just stoned, or is everybody stoned around here?"

Help would be much appreciated.

Male artist singing solo.

Chorus has "go to the city" or "in the city."

The word "move" might be in the chorus as well. Perhaps "move to the city."

2.5 years later, I have an answer. I heard it again in a bookstore and checked the lyrics.
