When did Disney lose creativity? The alien and general art design of the ST was bad. You’d think Lucas Film being bought by a company that used to be known for creativity wouldn’t lead to this.

We need a new alien, how should we design it? Give it 2 arms, 2 legs, and squish it’s face.

When was Disney ever creative? The whole company was and is built on taking stuff that people already know (started out with fairy tales and kids books) and bank on that familiarity for their adaptations, while changing some things around for the time or updating them.

The only time they really get creative is when properties are shifted on to TV and the corporate end is more hands-off.

Anakin and Palpatines relationship is Frankenstein and Monster not father and son. There is no family relationship with Ben and Rey.

I'm all the Jedi was the most cringey scene I have felt for the writers in a movie.

When they went with all the Jedi speaking to Rey, and with all the Jedi that fought against Palpatine, I was really hoping for a fight scene between Rey and Palpatine where the dead Jedi speak to Rey about what Sheev would do next and the best way to counter it.

The titty aliens on the beach were good designs, I thought. The porgs and crystal foxes were cute but I don't know that they were really imaginative or creative

For me the only non-flawed star wars movie is ANH, but they're all pretty good. Both TFA and TLJ seemed better when I rewatched them this week.

I've watched it recently and it's still really good, makes you think about the ideas and meanings behind the Force and the Jedi/Sith, and makes the decimation of the New Republic mean something, there's no surprise space fleet showing up 10 minutes after a bunch of people are killed to save the day and win the entire war. The Last Jedi says that anyone can be a hero and that our love for each and the connections that we make with each other are the things that will beat evil in the end, not space magic and chosen special people.

so why wasn't Rey's mom or dad, whichever was Palp's kid, not also some kinda uber force user? the midichlorians were just like "ha ha gently caress you I'm gonna let you get lame shanked by the stupid knife" ?

there could have been a cool story winding through all 3 films about Rey and Ren being the culmination of the two most powerful force bloodlines but instead we got the clumsiest bullshit ever heh

TFA and TLJ both feel like unspoken remakes of ANH and ESB. At least ROS didn't keep with that. It didn't really keep with anything but lol.

It's so good people forget any of the events that happened, much like this film's plot

(Nothing really happens in TLJ)

TLJ had interesting ideas to say, that it did gently caress all with. Luke's current position in TLJ was neat, but the movie's resolution makes it pointless. The Casino planet/ hacker subplot was awful. The "I have a plan but not telling anyone" was artificial conflict.

Both of the movies suck. The only one that's good was TFA, and that's because the Non-Abrams original Star Wars writer wrote New Hope Again

Both Johnson and Abrams are BAAAADD writers.

What. It's Return of the Jedi. Rey finds out she's from an evil lineage and the Emperor tries to tempt her by showing all her friends are in trouble in a giant space battle.

TLJ begins and end with Rebels on the run and Rey still not trained lol.

So this movie has to rush through a bunch of bullshit to make up for it.

Yeah it's ROTJ that overcorrects for Jabba's palace/Endor being slogs and then does an absolute garbage copy of the throne room/ds2 battle

It was in Endor which everyone thought was the place with Ewoks but that's just the moon of Endor. They sent Wilford Brimley to Endor to check the ruins but he just set up shop on the moon and called back to the Republic saying "Nah it's all gone"

Raccooon

The Death Star ruins weren’t lost. That is why they had to have two mcguffins. First one points to where the second mcguffin in on the wreckage. Presumably the wreckage is so vast people couldn’t tell where the throne room was or knew that was where the way finder was.

The throne room was never really a throne room, it was just some unused room with a view where they installed a swivel chair

Palpatine demanded his throne have a window view to space in the Death Star 2 last second, so they panicked and put it in a work j progress room right by the power reactor

Why do the new movies and this one in particular treat droids like people. I don't remember 3p0 and r2 being treated much more than a favorite car or toaster. They had human-like emotions and banter but that was for the audience to hear because the main characters just ignored it. Now 3p0 has to sacrifice himself but it really doesn't matter because it's a machine and can just be repaired like he has in every other movie he gets dismantled.
