cakesmith handyman posted:That's an impressive amount of brass neck "it's your fault for not stopping us" I yelled at another contractor for not having a crane to lift the head off a 1500 kW generator engine and instead having 4 guys do it by hand. Their excuse on that one was that the ANA and Taliban were currently fighting 3 km away and they were limited to parts and tools they could sneak through Taliban checkpoints by hiding them under a pile of poo poo in one of the tech's cars. We let that one go. Giant balls and a diminished self preservation instinct are a pre-requisite for being a contractor here. There's quite a lot of crosswind landing vids on youtube especially for some of the bigger planes like the A380 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roS6oFjCDhc Or the An-225 which even at the best of times isn't exactly an easy plane to fly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r1663DqucA There's also some amazing cockpit full flight footage like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVopoE3R6Ys Shirtless engineer in the middle is pretty OSHA, right?

It seems likely to me that if the “engineer” (by real title or approximate influence) is shirtless, you’re in for a bad time.
# ? Dec 31, 2019 06:55 |
he's not shirtless, the shirt is holding a vital part of the plane together.
# ? Dec 31, 2019 06:57 |
Dangerous though it may be, it seems oddly appropriate for the plane. Like, if you asked the pilots, they'd just shrug and look at you like you're ruining everyone's good time.

The velcro apparently keeps the loop from sliding around. This guy put a second loop through the first in a really dumb way and then didn't even hook his carabiner to that, instead to just the velcro strap that happened to have attached itself in a way that looks like a loop.
