I yelled at another contractor for not having a crane to lift the head off a 1500 kW generator engine and instead having 4 guys do it by hand. Their excuse on that one was that the ANA and Taliban were currently fighting 3 km away and they were limited to parts and tools they could sneak through Taliban checkpoints by hiding them under a pile of poo poo in one of the tech's cars. We let that one go.

Giant balls and a diminished self preservation instinct are a pre-requisite for being a contractor here.

There's quite a lot of crosswind landing vids on youtube especially for some of the bigger planes like the A380

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roS6oFjCDhc

Or the An-225 which even at the best of times isn't exactly an easy plane to fly

There's also some amazing cockpit full flight footage like this one:

he's not shirtless, the shirt is holding a vital part of the plane together.

Dangerous though it may be, it seems oddly appropriate for the plane. Like, if you asked the pilots, they'd just shrug and look at you like you're ruining everyone's good time.

I'm ignorant to the setup of these, is it normal to have a loving harness tether bearing your weight to be a loop with velcro instead of a stitched loop? It looks like there's a proper carabiner it's secured to, so what is the reason for this monstrosity I'm looking at?

The loop goes around some bar on the glider and the carabiner attaches to that. The velcro apparently keeps the loop from sliding around. This guy put a second loop through the first in a really dumb way and then didn't even hook his carabiner to that, instead to just the velcro strap that happened to have attached itself in a way that looks like a loop.

while correct in its conclusion, is also wrong because the 737-100 and -200 both have round engine nacelles (vs. the flattened ones on the later models) and lack the vertical stabilizer extension.

they would never be confused for a 757 because they are tiny little baby planes while the 757-300 is the longest longboi ever made, and the little turbojets on the early 737 are very distinctive.

but the post is still wrong

Give me a flash of insight into what I'd be doing if I'd stayed in engineering instead of becoming a (better paid) computer toucher. Good poo poo.

Lol at like 4 minutes they address the shirtless situation, Yuri blyat they're making a movie and you're here with your hairy chest, gonna embarrass the company! Also I liked at about 20 minutes the camo shirt guy is pointing at some gauges like "what's up with these?" to another guy and he's like "why are you asking me??" and then another shirtless or maybe tank-top guy pops his head in.
