Chunderbucket posted:The water in those systems can be some of the blackest, grungiest stuff you'll ever see. I did a reno in a grocery store that had the emergency release valves/outlets or whatever for the system all right over the canteen area. What I'd give to watch that go It also smells like the worst death you can imagine, too. So that place is gonna be great during cleanup.

I walked into work one day. I worked in a grocery store prepared pizza kitchen. All the work stations were rolled away, and there were dozens of people all mopping and scrubbing. I should have turned around and walked out, called in sick. Turns out, the trigger on the fire suppression system malfunctioned, the pizza oven heating up triggered it, and... Gallons of dirty water were blasted over the top of a pizza oven and spread over the entire department floor. Murky, filthy water, wet ash, blasted all over every topping and work surface that was just being opened up by the poor innocent new hire. We had to shrink hundreds of dollars in toppings and cheese that day.

Yeah, it's weighing and recording unsold/unsellable foodstuffs and throwing it out. I've definitely worked at a pizza shop where they would have tried to get me to wash and repackage. I have refused such demands before. They didn't really know what to do with my refusal since they were the same managers who sent me to get food safety certified... I won by default I guess.
