I've only seen it once before but it's cool as poo poo. Thrasher recently did a feature on a deaf skater with the most beautiful kickflips ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5piJG_5vVw0

Quick question: my bearings are all hosed up and as a result my (street) longboard is barely functional anymore. Talking with people it seems clear that replacing the bearings entirely is cheaper and requires less effort than buying new ones, but I worry about how to responsibly dispose of the bearings, and if this would be more or less damaging than the chemicals used to clean and lubricate the old ones. Is it more eco-friendly to clean and repair or to replace? Follow-on question: which type of bearing would be recommended for speed and durability?

Christmas miracle giveaway alert: I have a barely used 8" Hi5ber complete that I'd like to give away - https://www.hi5ber.com/prestige ($300 value) It's a great setup, but I have a new complete that I'm going to use in the spring... and I just had a baby a few months ago and my time is even more limited, so I think I'm gonna table the getting back into skateboarding thing. If you are interested, or know someone (like your son/daughter/niece/nephew) that would love it as a late Christmas gift, let me know. I suppose the first person to PM me can claim it. I'll edit this post when it's claimed. ...aaaaand it's gone, congrats SA forums poster Booyah- Garfu fucked around with this message at 19:34 on Dec 24, 2019 |

I'm really curious to ask the folks in this thread of what they think of Punisher boards. I noticed these are like half price compared to a lot of like "real" skateboards and are on like every mainstream online store like Amazon (they're even being sold at my local Kohl's apparently) and I'm just sitting here thinking "what's the catch?". Forgive me if I'm opening up a can of worms, but I was just wondering. Like are the actual decks fragile? Can you even turn on these things? Are they good for really anything other than casual cruising? I've looked up online what people thought and I got a lot of mixed opinions and very little real useful information. edit: I see Braille often peddles these in their videos apparently and that alone doesn't put me in good opinion of them Captain Sheepy fucked around with this message at 13:46 on Dec 27, 2019 |

idk that you're going to find a 1st hand opinion in this thread about them but from some cursory research they look like a slightly more serious version of walmart boards, they make all their own parts and are likely penny pinching instead of trying to make something good. The worst thing about it is the price because this thread can probably find you a complete from an actual skateboarding company for the same money. Can't be more than 10 pages back someone was posting links to very reasonably priced completes. Edit: most common complaint appears to be lovely bearings which isn't the biggest problem ever for little kids who aren't trying to rip it up but would suck if you're trying to actually go somewhere or skate ramps. Edit 2: https://www.warehouseskateboards.com/almost-skateboards-thin-line-red-mini-complete-skateboard-7x29 https://www.warehouseskateboards.com/blind-skateboards-og-foil-blue-mid-complete-skateboards-7.62x31.3 https://www.warehouseskateboards.com/girl-skateboards-sean-malto-93-til-wr38-complete-skateboard-8x31.875 Intel&Sebastian fucked around with this message at 18:00 on Dec 27, 2019 |

Thanks, that was more or less what I expected. I was also already eyeing at some complete boards for around the same price, the ones you linked seem like good choices too! As a sort of New Years resolution, I was looking for something to help get me more active that's fun enough to commit to and coincidentally just got obsessed with watching like skate parts on Youtube over the holiday season. It's already quite warm and sunny where I live, so I don't even really have to wait until then to really start shredding.

Injury shock often lets a person do extremely unexpected poo poo until their adrenaline wears off and they feel pain again.

It's a known fact that the further you run from the point of impact the less it will hurt when the adrenaline fades. Also laughing to show ya boys you're okay lessens the ego damage

I saw a dude break his ankle one time, well a few times, but this one time the guy sat on his ankle as he slid down a transition bail. He straightens his leg out to look at it and at first glance it was just like his shoe partially came off, but that was just his ankle hanging. He then just loving banged it a few times on the flat to try to make it better, then stood up walked a step or two and fell down again. the whole time I was thinking: people don't dislocate ankles, that doesn't happen...but is it happening right now? did he just fix hi ankle???

I have absolutely put dislocated fingers back in (paying for it now with constant hand pain 20 years later). Getting old sucks When I was young and a better skater I was practicing backside grinds on a ledge, kind of fell on my front foot. I thought I rolled my ankle since it started to swell but I wasnt sure. Skated for a bit longer, then I rode a bike home since it was hard to put pressure down. My foot swelled up and 3 days later I realized I broke my ankle/foot (12 bones broken/shattered). In my experience of breaking a ton of bones, rolling an ankle or popping a joint hurt way worse than breaking a bone.

Had a friend fall on a simple 180 and compound fracture his forearm. Luckily we were skating in the hospital parking lot and we just walked him into ER!. He went into shock pretty much straight away and was pretty much a zombie. He had no real memory of it breaking.

I don't travel a whole lot so when I do I'm always amazed at how other parts of this country are so much more skateable than Seattle. I'm in Phoenix on business and there is so much smooth pavement it's insane. They also have those cool East River style cement trenches. Wish I'd brought my deck. 🥺
