I just got back from a week in Myanmar, a country with a ton of stray dogs. None of them were aggressive but most of them weren't particularly friendly. Except for this girl who became my friend while I waited for a train in Bago where she seemed to live at the train station. She was remarkably polite, even when she tried to climb into my lap. I know the photos don't really show it, but rest assured, the dog was petted. Bonus friend I met at the Jakarta train station on a trip to Indonesia last year. stereobreadsticks has a new favorite as of 00:26 on Feb 2, 2020 |

These are good lookin' friends. Here's a very good stray that appeared when I went on a family trip to Hawaii last August. I don't have a photo of it, but my aunt found a gecko in her luggage when she got home. They're still taking care of it.

When we got back from Curacao and were cleaning off our scuba gear in the tub, a little baby crab climbed out of one of the weight pockets of a BCD. I was taking marine bio at the time, so I brought it to school the next day and got out of half my classes to set up a tank to keep it in (#1 lesson of that class: salt water tanks are really complicated and fickle). Last I heard, he was still going strong when that teacher retired a few years later, but I don't know if she took him with her or if he was left in that classroom.

wesleywillis posted:Have you guys managed to stop the It seems to be getting better recently. Some species that were really badly affected seem to have rebounded with populations resistant to the poison and in the case of one snake they've evolved smaller mouths so they can only eat smaller less poisonous toads. Also the crows and native rats have figured out the eyes and belly skin aren't poisonous. So they just eat those bits and leave the toads to bleed out with their eyes gone and bellies skinned. Plus some other controls are working decently. Not a win yet but seems to be reason to hope.
