My TWSBI ECO-T won't fit very far down into the little 30ml Diamine bottles. If I open the piston all the way can I just take the nib and section off and jam a disposable pipette or syringe into the pen from the nib end? Does the TWSBI inkwell that costs too much money create enough vacuum to let the pen suck up the last little bit of ink?

Works just fine, besides needing to wait a bit for the ink to make its way through the feed when you pop it back in. Hell, if you were really patient, you could probably just [very, very slowly] pour ink into it (don't do that, that's dumb). iospace posted:Dry time on the lovely paper? Otherwise sounds good to me! Oh yeah, cheap paper is real absorbent so the dry time for pretty much any ink is instant. That's also why you don't get the same sort sheen or shading on bad paper that you do with nicer paper like Rhodia or Tomoe River.

Got a real treat for you today, folks. For your viewing pleasure, quite possibly the worst fountain pen nib ever made, the Staedtler Duro Flex! Check out these great features! -Tissue thin stamped steel that warps if you look at it wrong! -Crappy, super-thin gold plating! -Tines so warped that the nib slit is pinched off in no less than three separate places! -The writing surface is just steel tabs instead of true tipping material, yet it's still so sharp it cuts in to paper on every stroke! -Half of the nib is completely lifted off of the feed! I've been asked to turn this piece of poo poo in to a working pen. Joy of joys. Thankfully, my experience working with Visconti Dreamtouch nibs should help.

Noodler's Tokyo Gift is a very very nice pinkish red that looks beautiful coming out of a fine nib. It's definitely not cherry blossom pink but rather an intense red with sort of a pink shift. Unfortunately doesn't shade much, but you might be able to dilute it.

Has anyone any experience with the Osprey Milano with the Zebra G unit? I know the obvious drawbacks with the Zebra G being a dip pen nib (corrosion, etc) but any other first hand info would be nice. I've been trying to get into pointed nib calligraphy but have a tough time with dip pens and something like this seems like it'd be rad but if it was this easy I imagine it'd have been done earlier and more often. https://www.ospreypens.com/collections/milano/products/milano-serendip-emerald-with-standard-and-flex-nib-options?variant=31181349027909 otherwise i think i'll be on the look out for vintage flex pens again when i get my tax return...

Hi fountain pen nerds! I have a long history with fountain pens, but only recently had the chance to actually get some. Writing sample and my collection! I currently own two Daiso pens (one of the Riviere ones and an unnamed one), one black pen with a 1.9 calligraphy nib (for pretty words) and my go to, my Parker IM. The Parker is honestly supremely nice, not scratching or skipping or anything. Just glides. Whenever I read reviews I always see complaints about the nib but it looks like in 2016 Parker updated the IM with a new nib? I never see mention of it. The Daisos are okay. The Riviere is honestly a pain sometimes to get ink to flow. The white one writes well and is plenty wet (my preference) but quite scratchy at the same time? Either way, 2.80 each haha. The black one was actually my first fountain pen. It writes surprisingly well, very smooth. Feels cheap as poo poo though as you'd expect. I have like 6 pens from AliExpress coming too. Ink wise I have a Pelikan black (cause black), Iroshizuku yama-budo (wine red/purple), Iroshizuku yu-yake (the orange in the pic) and an Kyo No Oto No 6 (pink). It's a start! I do have a question though. I had the thought of getting another IM (cheap and nice) and swapping the nib. I know Parker's official stance is "We provide F and M please refer to our dealers blahblahblah". But I've seen some sparse posts indicating it's a standard No 5 nib? I'm wanting to put a wide as gently caress nib on it and retire the black pen. Something I can dedicate to headers and the like. Any advice? PS: I have been ogling this entire thread for a long rear end time.

The Dark Matter ink is very similar to the Pilot cartridge black. Might use that to refill my metro after the cartridge runs out.

Recently I've become infatuated with Sailor pens and decided to reward myself with a nice one after getting through some tough work stuff. Got a Sailor Pro Gear in the 'Manyo' summer limited color, which is a really nice green. It has the first gold nib I've ever used and I can see why people like them. It is incredible to write with and the Pro Gear will most likely become my everyday writing pen. Also picked up a Wing Sung 699 to dip my toes into vac-fillers. It's a lot nicer than I expected. It's on the heavier side, and the nib writes very well even if the plating is a little off center. I'm a big fan of the clear brown. Makes it feel very '70's. Here's the 699's nib, where you can see the plating/masking was a little off: Chip McFuck fucked around with this message at 21:55 on Feb 14, 2020 |

Much thanks to my pen secret Santa! On the left we have “Cloud Transparent” the Darth Maul of fountain pens, with dual sided eyedropper nibs, as well as the option to slot in a ballpoint. On the right the “Midsummer Night” that glows in the dark. The keychain that looks like a suppository actually stores a spare nib! The package was completed with a huge pile of Scandinavian candy that I’m looking forward to tasting.

Hello fountain pen goons! After reading the first page, I have a question that I'm not entirely sure is relevant. If it's not, please point me in the right direction and I'll go over there I want to get a reusable pen (not necessarily fountain, although I do like the calligraphic look) that I can refill with my own ink bottle once it runs out. I also dont have much cash on hand (I'm gonna top out at $30, for the sake of putting a number out there). I have poo poo posture sometimes when I write, so I'm nervous about using something delicate as a fountain pen. I also tend to lose things easily. I just want something refillable, sturdy, and cheap. What do you guys think? What options do I have, if any?

Honestly the thread title will do you right here. Metros are cheap, sturdy, they write well, and if you get a fine or an extra fine it won't be that fiddly for average use, even if your writing posture isn't perfect. Buy one box of cartridges and then refill them with bottled ink and a pipette or syringe and you're golden.
