"Well you should have specified that you weren't referring to masks that are already reusable when you said that you can't just reuse any old n95 mask" is maybe the most smugly pedantic poo poo I've read all week

You both have a point. Mithaldu is right; Jabor, unless you have medical training or some iron-clad source, then you talking like an authority on the subject could put people in danger. Jabor, you have a point that unless people are trained properly and/or understand the risks, the masks won't help them. Can you guys chill? I'm sure there's some folks reading this thread that are plenty concerned and there's nothing solved by fighting.

People who wear masks deserve to get the virus. Also, wearing a mask increases your chances of getting the virus.

i work at a hospital and i already caught the sweet cold w/ the week-long lingering dry cough that was going around. bought some ramen and red Gatorade for whenever i get sick. might pick up some theraflu and cough drops since i used most of my cold meds already. procedure masks were already on and off backorder from flu season, n95 went on backorder as soon as the hype started.

OK now I'm stocked up. Store looked fairly normal, but you could tell some people were going heavy on the canned items. I just got a whole bunch of dried bulk things. Now I can read these threads without wondering if I bought enough beans.

It’s funny people feel required to buy survivalist food. Like the power and water won’t go out, you can buy like, packaged or frozen food. Like rice and beans are good to eat, and maybe buy that if you cook with them anyway, but you can just buy normal regular food for an emergency. Buying blander or harsher food than you normally eat doesn’t make it more serious.

Let me tell you, it feels pretty grand when you've been sitting on a 20lb bag of red beans, 15lb of rice, boxes of diapers and tp, lbs of butter and yeast and sugar, disinfectant wipes and gallons of hospital grade cides, and a box of respirators with p100 filter replacements for the last month.

I thought that was weird -- you're worried about a scenario where you're stuck in your small apartment for a month, bored to death, and you don't want to spend more than 3 minutes on cooking?

Anne Whateley posted:I ended up having to go to Trader Joe's and it was the exact opposite. All the meat, produce, etc., shelves were 90% full; shelf-stable stuff was about 75% full (except chips were wiped out); and all the premade frozen dinners were completely gone. To be fair, I've never gone to TJ's to get staple items. A friend of mine was talking about how she saw a lot of people panic-buying at Whole Foods and I just lol'd. Went grocery shopping yesterday here in Seattle at a normal store and the only thing they were out of was bulk white rice and bags of flour for bread machines. Lots of other kinds of both.
