I'd rather have any of the starters than Urshifu, we have Ryu in the game already after all (plus I personally find it kinda ugly). Toxtricity would be neat as a curveball though.

EVO gets bonkers number of entrants of all skill levels, you're bound to at least play a few people that are on your level so don't sweat it Enjoy Vegas, buy cool stuff from the vendors, don't shake hands with anyone and you'll be fine

I could see Ring Fit Athlete (because c'mon guys, they aren't the trainer. The ring is the trainer) having a timed hit system to reflect how their game functions. Making a lot of their attacks 2-3 parts (a la Link's forward smash) and making them stronger via pressing A at the right moments would go a long way towards finding a unique niche.

I think Ring Fit would be weirdly Zelda/Bayonetta-like and sorta projectile heavy since the attacks are either gusts from the compressing the ring or the literal body parts summoned from the ground and sky.

if you want to do the fastest possible for unlocking everyone, I'd do World of Light for a bit and then once that starts to slow down switch over to Classic for the rest. WoL starts out fastest but slows quite a bit and Classic is slower than WoL at first but faster than WoL later.

I've had this since release and just recently tried to start learning how to, you know, actually play it and be decent at it. So I set a goal for myself: Make it into elite smash with at least one character. And the character I like the most is Pac-man, so I'm not exactly starting out with something easy. Quick play is filled to the brim with absolute scumfuckers with trash rules. Highlights from the last day: - A Simon player who picked free for all and picked the Mega Man stage so he could hide behind the yellow devil and chuck items at you. He lost miserably because Pac-Man is a bigger projectile scumlord and also has actual loving recovery. - A Samus player who picked Great Plateau and only spammed projectiles through the narrow hall. I almost won this one once I realized I should just chuck keys at him all day. - A Pokemon Trainer player who only had assist trophies and pokeballs on and would spam flare blitz to get to them. Dude learned a very harsh lesson about melons. - A DK player who picked KoF Arena and had Smash Balls on. I got robbed on this one. - A Palutena player who picked Venom and would only hide on the lower wings and wait for you to approach to attempt to upsmash/side-b you. Also had final smashes on. Wiped me pretty hard on my first stock, ending me with a final smash, and then teabagged, and at that point I just thought "Doktor, turn off my Pac inhibitors" and begun coming at this idiot from below the stage instead. I would also prime the key every time before doing so (since he would never approach) and every time I got close to his dumpster rear end he would spam counter expecting a free key kill, only to get a delayed bair to the face. I sealed the final kill with a bair, into a key which also launched a hydrant, and both the key and hydrant intersected him at the same time and launched him to the next zip code. He had his final smash, too. Can't think of a better way to say "gently caress OFF FOREVER" I keep pingponging between 6 and 4 million. It blows, but I'm committed now. I just wish I was big-brained enough to actually Pac-man properly.

That's odd, have you definitely set your rules properly and asked it to try and match with them? I wouldn't expect to come across those kind of rulesets at 4m+ otherwise. Also I don't believe your opponents can pick specific stages outside of battlefield and final destination, it's those or random all stages.

Yeah that's bizarre, I have my rules set to 7 min 3 stock no items and Battlefield. I very rarely get stages outside of BF and FD, even more rarely get final smashes, and absolutely never get items. Most rule shenanigans seem to come from lowering the number of stocks or lowering the time to like 3". Which I just don't get, you like sudden death or something?
